Mmmmm a backyard bbq with a bunch of music loving "freaks". I think it would have to be way out in the country for the neighbors sake and to keep the POlice off us, ('cept POlice like bbg too , dun fergit the donuts).

I'll bring the pig and we can have us a real oldfashioned pigroast. No need for eating utensills and such, easy cleanup.

do you mean a pit in the ground pig roast?  i was introduced to those from my ex...they are wonderful!  be who you are and eat meat...what could be better?  lol

God, I just love labels. And, don'tcha think, perhaps, what so many peeps who enjoy this thread find interesting is that they make waaaaaaaay more than 57 flavors. Perhaps we could all at least agree ( if that is imortant to anyone ) that Haagen Das Coconut/ Pineapple is the best commercial ice cream available ?

Oh, I'm hip, brother. But the thread title is "Rock On" not "Waltz On" yanno? [:D]

"I've seen fire, and I've seen rain...
I've drunk a bunch of wine on a beach in Spain..."
"And I never thought I'd ever find my brain...
Oh, I forget the last line. Fuck.

Oh, I know, I could tell the tale of taking the ferry over to Tangier, and going wandering around the Kasbah, and all that, but it wouldn't mean anything.

That's more or less what I was going for in my song posts. Most of them relate to some event in my life. I know all that is boring as shit for everyone else, but I have fond memories. I even tried to relate one or two of them to some things that have happened to me.

But, ya know? This isn't the only place I post. I am a member of a couple other places. There are some people who have done social work in Palestine, Africa, Afghanistan; engineers who have helped build aircraft and whatnot (My ex's sister worked at Wright-Pat on Heads-up displays and other cool shit like that).

Point is/was, I didn't just pull shit out of my ass. I could have found much more. What I posted had some relevance to my life. And I know what some people posted had some relevance to their lives. This is one way to get to know people. Yanno? Otherwise, I could post all kinds of links to all kinds of shit. Mickey Hart and Dafos. Harry James "King James Version"  Mozart "Salzburg Seranades" (might be a pic of Salzburg on my profile); Beatles "Meet the Beatles" (took a train from London to Liverpool to see some stuff. Took the "Magical Mystery Tour" bus tour (stood on Penny lane and at the gate of Strawberry Fields)(saw McCartney's and Lennon's and Harrison's boyhood homes)

See, I didn't post those songs just for the fuck of it. I was trying to share something. Something besides "it's got a great beat to it. I'll give it an 87.963." There are a lot of stories, and I like to share the stories of my life. Like the time I got cut loose from jail in Castle Rock, Colorado, after having fasted for 3 days, and I met up with a couple heads from Germany with some very fine Czech stuff, and I spent that afternoon on the Continental Divide watching the clouds turn into butterflies, so to speak.

Not that anyone is interested in anything other than the songs they picked.  Namaste

christine1 -> RE: Rock on (3/22/2008 4:14:46 AM)

oh great Cjan....now i want ice cream...although i can't say what my favorite is, yours sounds really good.

Peter Gabriel, Sledgehammer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqyc37aOqT0  a really dorky video, but the the way he sings this song is sexy as hell!

you could have a steam train
if you'd just lay down your tracks
you could have an aeroplane flying
if you bring your blue sky back

all you do is call me
I'll be anything you need

you could have a big dipper
going up and down, all around the bends
you could have a bumper car, bumping
this amusement never ends

I want to be your sledgehammer
why don't you call my name
oh let me be your sledgehammer
this will be my testimony
show me round your fruitcage
'cos I will be your honey bee
open up your fruitcage
where the fruit is as sweet as can be

I want to be your sledgehammer
why don't you call my name
you'd better call the sledgehammer
put your mind at rest
I'm going to be-the sledgehammer
this can be my testimony
I'm your sledgehammer
let there be no doubt about it

sledge sledge sledgehammer

I've kicked the habit
shed my skin
this is the new stuff
I go dancing in, we go dancing in
oh won't you show for me
and I will show for you
show for me, I will show for you
yea, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I do mean you
only you
you've been coming through
going to build that powerr
build, build up that power, hey
I've been feeding the rhythm
I've been feeding the rhythm
going to feel that power, build in you
come on, come on, help me do
yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you
I've been feeding the rhythm
I've been feeding the rhythm
it's what we're doing, doing
all day and night

And I don't know about the Coconut/Pineapple, but Haagen Das is some excellent ice cream. I don't often get a chance to have it, though.  I have to be truthful, I don't have a lot of money. since my divorce, I have been going broke, and I've had to move in to my mother's house. I have a lot of debts and I can barely keep up with the payments on my bills. I'll probably have to file for bankruptcy. really sucks, trying to find a woman, but I have to be truthful, and the women get all freaked out and go off to find some guy with a Camaro. man, and I can't tell you how much I want a Camaro.

It's like uncanny how easily chicks zoom in on the fact that some guys, well, all they have is some car. Well, it's just amazing. Chicks are so good at zeroing in on the Alpha dude. One flavor out of 57,  I reckon.

Level -> RE: Rock on (3/22/2008 6:29:53 AM)

Good morning, early bird.

It's a good tune; the only way it'd put me to sleep is if it was on loop, after a long evening of amore. [8D]

Thanks for finding that and posting it, Level. It's one of my fav H&O tunes. Darryll's voice seens a little tired and blown, but when it's not, it raises the hairs on my arms. H&O,just like anything, isn't to everone's tase, of course..what is ? But, they personify the Philly schchol of Blueeyed soul.. Gracias, 'mano.

I made all of the ladies in the area pregnant

"Sara Smile" cover by Joan Osborne , imo, can't touch the Hall and Oares original, but, can't find an original H&O version to post.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irimNjHPS9c

My daughter loves this song. Her name is Sarah. When she was three we were riding in the car and this one came on and she was like...MOM...thats ME! And she just giggled thru the whole thing....now, her father is a fuck up and I sing it to her and I put that push on "You and Me forever...." and she smiles right when it tells her to....

-smiles a lil-

Its really cool that you played that one man...really cool.

Kirren -> RE: Rock on (3/22/2008 7:35:21 AM)
