i already Loved the Type O, Death Cab, and Panic songs...loved hearing the others...great list, Steel!!!!
btw...

I will follow you into the Dark Death Cab For Cutie (This song remind me of being a Teenager in Love and how Strongly we felt about things then)

i tend to think, that feeling can extend into the golden years with the right one....

Love of mine some day you will die
But I'll be close behind
I'll follow you into the dark

No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white
Just our hands clasped so tight
Waiting for the hint of a spark
If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

In Catholic school as vicious as Roman rule
I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black
And I held my tongue as she told me
"Son fear is the heart of love"
So I never went back

If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark

You and me have seen everything to see
From Bangkok to Calgary
And the soles of your shoes are all worn down
The time for sleep is now
It's nothing to cry about
Cause we'll hold each other soon
The blackest of rooms

If Heaven and Hell decide
That they both are satisfied
Illuminate the NOs on their vacancy signs

If there's no one beside you
When your soul embarks
Then I'll follow you into the dark
Then I'll follow you into the dark

Agreed Tulip, it can go either way I just remember saying things like that in the thralls of love over a girl who I kissed for the first time. It is becoming less and less realistic as society changes to see it in the older generations.

But The words do give the idea that this is an older couple but then it is also talking about all this coming in time.

A song with a voice I think you might dig.

Hit Song
By Peter Murphy

Walking in the street
Breath the only friend
Strangers pass me by
I'm moving, moving with the wind
Inside me now, the gold
The gold at rainbow's end
Stranger to myself, a stranger
Stranger till the end
Behind the closed door
The one we painted green
To remind me of the perfect plan

Wash my face in fields of green
Take me to the stars for free
Point me to the high wire call
Wake me true and wake me all

Walk me in the streets
Take me, to a view on high
To an empire state
Tease, tease and bake me dry
Swerve and turn on me
Melt me, melt me to the wall
Like an unspent fortune, I'm running
Running with the call
Behind the closed door
The one we painted green
To remind me of a perfect plan

Wash my face
In fields of green
Take me to the stars for free
Point me to the high wire call
Wake me true and wake me all

Hope you Like.

Thanks Steel.  His voice is definately unique...and what lovely lyrics.  Another one i'd never heard...i'm impressed.  i listened to a couple of his other tunes too!  "The Sweetest Drop" and "I'll Fall With You Knife" were nice.

SteelofUtah -> RE: Rock on (6/17/2008 9:11:56 AM)

Okay you may already be familiar with his work but I happen to be a HUGE fan of this guy here is my Leonard Cohen List.

Leonard Cohen

Everybody Knows (First I ever head from Pump Up The Volume)
Tower of Song (An Amazing Cohen Song)
First we take Manhattan (Political but still an Interesting song)
My Secret Life (One of my favoites considering my Interest in BDSM)
The Chelsea Hotel (Nothing like a Love song to a Prostitute ignore the Imagry Cohen said it's about a Pro)
Hallelujah (In my Opinion the only Version however Ruffus Wainwright I guess re did it)
Closing Time (For all you Bar Stool Sitters a song you may like)

Just a few of My Favorite Cohen Songs.

If I were to get all artsy I would have to call Cohen a Lyrical Architect who is right up there with Lennon, and Dylan. in my opinon it's his harsh voice that makes him that much more wonderful.

Hope you like. He is one of my Favorite artists.

cjan -> RE: Rock on (6/17/2008 6:20:42 PM)

Steel, know this Leonard Cohen one ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jkGOsIjLqPo

I love him too. Dude's been a monk in a Zen Monastery in NY for many years now.

SteelofUtah -> RE: Rock on (6/18/2008 10:39:18 AM)

Oh Yeah cjan I have everything he ever did.

I first heard him on the Intro that Happy Harry Hard on Played at the beginning of his show on Pump up the Volume (Everybody Knows) I became addicted.

I started collecting Cassette tapes from Yard Sales and Music Shops and recently I purchased his entire Collection on MP3.

I'm your Man is a Great Song I like the Images in his song but he has a Great song that I couldn't find on YouTube called Joan of Arc at least not the version I would want you to hear. These are the Lyrics

Joan of Arc
By Leonard Cohen

Now the flames they followed joan of arc
As she came riding through the dark;
No moon to keep her armour bright,
No man to get her through this very smoky night.
She said, Im tired of the war,
I want the kind of work I had before,
A wedding dress or something white
To wear upon my swollen appetite.

Well, Im glad to hear you talk this way,
You know Ive watched you riding every day
And something in me yearns to win
Such a cold and lonesome heroine.
And who are you? she sternly spoke
To the one beneath the smoke.
Why, Im fire, he replied,
And I love your solitude, I love your pride.

Then fire, make your body cold,
Im going to give you mine to hold,
Saying this she climbed inside
To be his one, to be his only bride.
And deep into his fiery heart
He took the dust of joan of arc,
And high above the wedding guests
He hung the ashes of her wedding dress.

It was deep into his fiery heart
He took the dust of joan of arc,
And then she clearly understood
If he was fire, oh then she must be wood.
I saw her wince, I saw her cry,
I saw the glory in her eye.
Myself I long for love and light,
But must it come so cruel, and oh so bright?
