I work in entertainment so I try to be hip to what is hot and what's going on in the entertainment industry. I like Simon's opinions for the most part, so I don't have a problem with tuning in to American Idol. It is the most popular show on television.
I am a huge Beatles fan, a trained musician/singer, and I think its sacreligious to sing Beatles tunes when not singing along with the radio, in the car, or in the shower. It's just not right. John Lennon and Paul McCartney (and George & Ringo) were brilliant. Their talent cannot be replicated.
Am I the only one who was peevy when the Idols got to sing the Beatles tunes? It was horrid. I spent half the night taking deep breaths and trying to ignore the slaughter of some of the best music of all time. Then, Ryan announces they can't just have one Beatles night...Oh no! They must do the Beatles next week, too. Let's slaughter them some more!
