ORIGINAL: DesFIP Do you have to get them repaired Cali or is this just to pass inspection? It's a "you need to fix this"... inspection isn't due until April (and I can't remember if this is the year I need one or not... don't have to do it every year). It's a 1999 camry with 93,000 miles on it. Both oxygen sensors are fried (at $400 for parts alone). I needed a tuneup as well, and fuel injector cleaning. It was acting like a car with a carburetor that was clogged up... dying when cold unless I had my foot on the gas, some other symptoms. I delayed replacing the broken motor mount and the tires. It's going to have to wait until tax refund time, although it needs it now. Everything on a camry craps out at 90,000 miles. At least I did the water pump and the timing belt at around 70,000 miles. Sigh. There went all my Xmas bonuses, plus some. Cali PS: And as I was typing this, the mechanic just called and told me it needs another part that runs about $100, because ONLY Toyota makes it (apparently they changed the design in recent years because they were prematurely failing, although not failing prematurely enough for Toyota to fix it under recall)... I think he said it was the clean air intake hose (not sure, I was too busy sobbing at the time). He said we could delay that for now, if we had to. Um, yeah.
