I remember reading the Gor books, and enjoyed them for the adventure, though I did skip most of the slavery, except for one book, where a woman had male slaves and gave them girls' names.  The wrong gender was being enslaved, in my view, in most of the books. However, I did identify with the total submission which "collaring" signified, and really related to that concept that in one instant of time, your life changes forever, and you totally belong to your mistress forever and totally. Is it common to actually collar males? I'd really enjoy that, but you can't wear a collar around all the time. I would enjoy wearing a necklace or bracelet which she put on me, and which I was never permitted to remove, which signified to both of us that she owned me. I'd really get pleasure from that. I'd personally want one which was a bit feminine, but my arms and wrists are too small for men's bracelets, anyway, so that wouldn't be a problem.

I noticed on that FEMclub site that they have a pendant, which  signifies the male is a female's slave, for those who recognize it. It would be nice to have a necklace with something which was engraved, saying, "I  belong to _______" or something. ID bracelets aren't that attractive to me, but if a woman thought it was attractive, then I'd love wearing one, and for her to pick the message engraved upon it.

Is this type of thing common? I love the idea of being "collared", in terms of something you wear, which the woman chooses and has engraved with language she wants. I'd love it no matter what it said, since she chose the words and the item.  That would give me a true sense of belonging to her, and being identified as her property, however she chose to state that. Even if it doesn't say anthying, it's still something only she can remove.  I'd hope a mistress would give me that pleasure, and take pleasure from that.

I have collared my male, he wears a stainless steel eternity collar in public and we have a leather collar for playtime. He also has a black leather bracelet with an envelope inside is a small metal tag that says he is my property and the day I collared him.

I'd say yeah its pretty common among femdom folk.

My collar is a nickle plated(soon to be replaced with stainless steel because I keep getting a rash) chain, wrapped in hemp, with a hematite ring in the center.  It is a symbol of my commitment to my Owner and of her commitment to me.  The ring itself was added to my collar as a personal symbol of her intent to spend the rest of her life with me...and vice versa when I accepted it.

Needless to say, the major plus is that it looks enough like a necklace that I can wear it 24/7 without causing any kind of disturbance.

The collar I gave my darling boy is simple black leather, with a dark red stripe around the middle that looks almost to be burned in or painted... it's hard to explain, but it's almost like a gradient from dark red to black, if that helps.  It's very subtle, but I thought gave it a lovely touch that would look wonderful around his neck.

I love seeing him wear it.  Sighhhhh... one of these days I'd like to get him a ring of some sort that he can keep on all the time instead of just around the house.

My collar, which i only just recieved a few hours ago is a simple black and silver choker with spikes; kinda loose on the neck so it's comfortable.  i absolutely love it and am sitting here with tears welling in my eyes.  It's actually the type of thing i'd buy for myself.

Congrats  darchChylde!  To me you always sound so devoted and sincere when you speak of your relationship.

To the OP:
My pet is collared with a simple sterling silver chain that I hand picked for him.  It is 'nilla enough to wear everywhere.
(of course he has the leather play collar too...)

Congratulations, DarchChylde! That must have been a truly wonderful experience. Although I'm much older, I sitll hope to find a mistress and be collared some day, and knowing that in that instant ot time I become hers forever. Thanks for the other responses. A pretty gold chain and/or braclet would be nice, and you could solder the clasp, so it could never be removed. I've never thought much about a collar, but must admit it would be nice to wear one at home, if the woman liked it, as I think about it. In that FEMClub, they seem to require the males to wear collars to functions, and a thong, whatever that is. I'm  new to this, and it's somewhat frightening, but I love submission so much that I really don't think I could resist it if I found the right mistress. I've always had the desires, but without a potential female, I didn't think about them much. Then I happened to see this kind of thing on the net, and realized how incredibly powerful they are, and that I'm not young any longer, and it's time to try to find the life I would love so much. I so wish this kind of support and knowledge and resource had been available when I was young. However the past is the past. Only the future matters.

Thank you everyone, while i'm not always happy the way some things have to be; Ma'am has never made me feel any less than happy.

Just a side note to Tavane, after reading his response.  While i know that some do it differently, i was truly owned the moment Ma'am claimed me and i accepted it.  Little did i know, but i was already Her's from the first time we were alone together on our second meeting.  Ma'ams collar, for me, does not make me more owned or more submissive and devoted; but it is a tangible symbol of the beautiful relationship we share, when before all (and i use the word with dripping sarcasm) we had were our words, feelings and interactions to show our love and devotion to one another.  Also, the collar is a constant reminder to myself that i am cherished, loved and owned that i can touch at any time i feel sad or lonely; or (perish the thought) tempted to misbehave.

Thanks for your response, DarchChylde. I know what you mean. I've experienced love virtually at first sight twice, but in vanilla relationships. I would enjoy the anticipation of the moment of collaring, though, as the true beginning of an entirely new life which because of everything which led up to it, both of you know will be permanent. Like a wedding ring, but one one of the persons wears the "ring", and it means much more than most marriages, since it's truly from the soul, with a total giving and receiving, without limitations or reservations; or at least that's how I perceive it presently. You become a  truly loved and cherished possession, and she becomes the focus of the rest of your life, in every respect.

My boy has two collars.  The formal one is red leather, with a lovely stone in the center.  The stone can be removed, so that he can be leashed when I chose to do so.  The every day one is a necklace with a lock, to which I have the keys.

Oh, and dc.....

Something I can do here, rather than other methods  I'm only about this happy for you.  My best to you and Ma'am!

CONGRATS darchChylde ... and of course, your lucky Ma'am too!

To the OP: Yes of course, male subs can be collared. No gender bias in that! And why would you think a fem sub would have any easier a time wearing a permanent collar than would a male sub? The trick is to find something that isn't SO odd that it freaks the general public out. There are many solutions to this, some of which you've seen here. In summary:

1. A plain leather collar can almost be a fashion statement in today's world!
2. A plain chain, especially with a soldered clasp, can be effective (but hopefully you won't need an MRI in a hurry)
3. A metal ring collar or chain with a lockable clasp, can work if the Dominant holds the keys (and isn't the type who regularly loses keys!)
4. A ring, particularly inscribed on the inside with the names and date of the collaring, could have an outer symbol such as the bdsm symbol, pair of handcuffs, chain links etc
5. An inscribed/engraved item such as an identity pendant, dog tag on a chain, necklace made up of letters linked together (one sub who was puppy wore that quite successfully, public assumed he was a doglover LOL!), identity bracelet. Could keep the inscription subtle such as sub name/initial then Dom name/initial inside brackets ... this is used a lot online but can be used on a tag eg v[A] is on my ID bracelet collar ... no one remarks on it
6. Something that can easily be hidden on a daily basis unless you wear shorts a lot and can be overlooked as an option ... an anklet. Can provide overtones of a shackle

Darch, my long-haired subby brother, congrats to you!!!  I see another photo-op to show off the goodies!  Oh, wait...that sounded creepy!   I see another photo-op to show off your collar.  Yeah, that's better!

In eight days, Mistress flies in and I'll probably get mine, too.  Yay!!!  March is a happy month, I'd say!!!  And no, you silly goose, I did not see Dr. Seuss.  Oh geez, that sounded creepy, too!  LOL

Congrats to Darch, of course

To the OP's question. A collar is a sybol of the relationship, it should not be the basis of it.  Fox's collar is his asting reminder of our commitment. However, he would be just as much mine were he never to wear one again. Many collars can easily be worn 24/7, and most of us have other play collars that can take a lot more abuse.
My other boy, Angel, is collared, but yet he wears no reminder of it. He did have a formal collar put around his neck almost 2 years ago that he wore for 1 day. Beyond that he has a keychain that I had engraved with his nickname, and a glass angel statue on his desk. He has never needed nor wanted the jewelry to accessorize his status.

I hadn't thought about this one when I made My original reply, so some could consider that My sub has three collars.  I didn't count this one, because the dog tags were made up before My boy was collared.  My clip had two dog tags made.  On his, it says, "If lost, please return to Lady Pact".  Mine reads, "Proud Owner of LPslittleclip purchased 08-25-07".

Congratulations, darchChylde! How wonderful for you, as well as for your Mistress.

For the OP, my maid wears a pink leather collar when at my house or a black pvc collar with white ruffles when in her maid's uniform. But for everyday she wears a little anklet under her socks.
