My Easter menu takes after my slovak side.  Ham, kielbasa, homemade pierogies, really fattening mashed potatoes, roasted and carmelized carrots, breaded cauliflower, paska.  People always bring a fantastic variety of desserts so I never even bother planning any.

What? No Kugelis?

pahunkboy -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 5:15:24 AM)

funny u mention this. i was just pondering all of it.   on the one hand  it would be fun, on the other-  the chi is messed up right now.

I have about 38 people coming over for Easter for a sit down dinner.
What are your plans if you celebrate?

Ya know, it just occured to me. Aileen is having 38 people over. My guess is she will be running around like a headless chicken and will not have time to notice a few crashers. And it is not like we won't contribute:

- I will bring a few bottles of the highest quality ripple.
- Slaveboy will lug in a few picnic tables stolen from his childhood state park. (hey...she DID say a sitdown dinner.)
- MrSuperior will bring his wench to help with the cooking.
- PrizedPosession will bring leftovers from her brothers baptism party.
- Popeye will ensure Aileen will not have to go to the trouble of putting away any leftover perogies.
- orfunboi will bring MissM
- subrob will bring something i never heard of.
- GT will bring her cats.
- Dincubus will  bring his appetite.
- and good ol Mod XI is invited to make sure we behave ourselves.

Everyone...have a safe and blessed holiday!!!!!

LOL...Believe me, you people would all be much more fun than my relatives.
Spiral ham Popeye.  I forgot to add homemade mac and cheese to my menu and still deciding on a soup too.

OP,  you better take precautions on your plumbing.   that many guests clogging the toilet....   i know someone that had a simm event- the following week a plumber was needed to rod out.

so maybe a note by the toilet asking not to over stuff the toilet- and platic bags....  you get the idea.

other then that- know where and who you can get to rod it out.

[sorry] but  best to be prepared.

Aileen1968 -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 6:00:59 AM)

Eeew
I normally have large groups over, not unusual for me, but rarely have a sitdown meal.  Usually do it buffet style.

pahunkboy -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 6:12:48 AM)

it takes a skill to entertain large numbers.  it sounds fun as well.   ild like to be with my family that day- [but] alot of if, ands, and buts

how nice.   to enertain. :-)

oh goody...pahunkboy is bringing the Porta-Pooper.

christine1 -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 11:25:22 AM)

that sounds like fun, i love to have people over, but not my family.  i'm the black sheep so anything i do i wrong to them.  i'm going to have a ham and scalloped potatoes and some salads and some punch with additives going all day long and whoever wants to stop by can.  luckily most of my family lives in other states so a fun day it will be.

good luck on your dinner!

pahunkboy -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 11:36:49 AM)

i dread the long drive that i would have to go on- if i am to see family.  i sorta feel it is their turn to come here.  you cant win sometimes.  busy.  always "busy"

popeye1250 -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 12:55:01 PM)

Aileen, are you doing *all* the cooking yourself or is someone helping you?
Oh, I've seen those frozen perogies in the supermarkets down here.
The next time I'm at the market I think I'll pick up a package of them just to try them out.

domiguy -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 12:57:49 PM)

I go out with a group of friends...It is an offshoot of my typical group...We have been going out every Easter for about the last 8 or so years?.....Lots of food, drinks and laughs.

xBullx -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 2:07:18 PM)

Well, I have one son that will be here, and I suppose that Natalie will make some type of a fresh salad, a big honey glazed spiral ham, some garlic taters, green beans casserole, buttered corn and glazed carrots, homemade bread (with honey butter) and while most likely not proper I like a somewhat fruity German Riesling with the meal, but then again, pork is the other white meat. Oh and for a late afternoon snack, a piece of cake (I fancy chocolate) and a gooey sweet red wine, Dom Pedro is a fav, it's Spanish and has a very high alcohol content, just perfect to reintroduce my eyes to a second nap for the day.

Mmmmmm

LuckyAlbatross -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 2:08:58 PM)

Sleep.  Maybe a movie.

xBullx -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 2:12:10 PM)

Hi Aileen,

Uhmmmm, what are pierogies? Everything sounded great, but I'm not sure what that is.

Kalista07 -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 3:02:43 PM)

Good gravy, Aileen - I'd need a valium to deal with that crowd!  LOL  Do you at least have people bring things to help you?

LadyHibiscus -> RE: Easter Dinner (3/15/2008 7:28:37 PM)

We are going OUT!  To Da Francesco's for dagonian food.  I will probably have gnocchi.
