LadyHathor -> I'm a ho, are you? (3/15/2008 4:02:59 AM)

The Easter thread inspired Me a tad here---I am an avowed ho about certain things, there are just some things I will  not compromise about---one of which is My coffee,--fresh ground and brewed beans every morning for Me---nothing else will do--if I cannot do that or have it done, I had better locate a gourmet coffee shop for that first morning burst of flavor----

what about you?

i agree with LadyH and GentleDom. I am a slave to the coffee pot. I have also moved away from the standard grocery brands and into the gourmet stuff....as long as it is not that  flavored crap. That first morning sip...ahhh.....heaven in a mug. Then reality hits and you see the um with a crayon up his nose...you hear Sir bellowing that he needs two socks of the SAME color (how picky of him)...etc.

.

this was a lesson learned the hard way...one should never, ever put a hot cup of coffee between their legs. Never...just don't do it. Trust me.  gives a whole new meaning to "hot pussy"

pahunkboy -> RE: I'm a ho, are you? (3/15/2008 5:11:46 AM)

Americans, the mainstream,  dont  know how to do coffee.

the  crap which passes for coffee is gunk.   i had run out alot for lattes until i seen how many calories and how they dont fill the cup all the way up. so i started making my own good coffee.

on the road- i will by-pass eating   but when i see quality coffee ill pay around $10 if need be....

so yes- im a coffee ho.

camille65 -> RE: I'm a ho, are you? (3/15/2008 5:13:45 AM)

A chicory blend for me thank you.

700  calories in a large latte.  argh

windchymes -> RE: I'm a ho, are you? (3/15/2008 6:08:58 AM)

I'm in with the coffee, also.  Good quality, fresh, or none.

For me, it's ice cream.  None of that store-bought crap.  If I have ice cream, I want the good "gourmet" stuff from a shop that makes it onsite.  So I'll only have it 2 or 3 times a year, but it's worth it.

And bread.  I want it fresh-baked from a bakery, or even the bakery dept. of the grocery store.  I hate loaves of mass-produced bread.

lusciouslips19 -> RE: I'm a ho, are you? (3/15/2008 6:15:42 AM)

I like good coffee from a local roaster and I'm use to getting it for free. I dont like that stuff from Starbucks though. It tastes overroasted and burnt. Funny thing, when not making it myself, Macdonalds has great coffee now. They switched to a darker roast higher quality coffee about a year ago.

But i'm not a ho. I;m a ho ho. Are you a twinkie?[:D]

Pot?  Meet kettle.

Aaanywho.  I have to have either coffee, hot tea, or some sorta cold caffeinated beverage waiting on me.

A woman after my own black stained heart!

I've always been a coffee drinker, since I was a child. Black and strong.

Then I went to NewOrleans and became a convert. Cafe Au Lait NOT a latte. Made with city blend french roast coffee/chickory (which I have to order online by the case)and Soysilk soymilk. During the week, maybe only one. On the weekends, at least two.

This ho-ness created a bit of a ruckuss last evening. I carpool with the guy I share the farm with, most days. He had mentioned on the trip to work that we needed to stop at the grocery store on the way home. I knew we were low on soy milk. Sooo, on the trip home, a bit later than usual because of delays at our respective offices, he mentioned that since he was planning on going into town today we could forego the grocery stop. He had a hot date and didn't want to take any longer than we already had.

Now, my Saturday and Sunday morning quiet time spent sipping my cafe au laits are rather special to me. The very thought that I might not have enough soymilk is enough to send me running to the store through a blizzard if need be. So I questioned as to whether or not I would have enough for this morning. The reply I got was not very convincing. So I said, "That's fine, if you feel there is enough we can wait" Now, he knew he was on treacherous ground and started doing a bit of backtracking. "Welllllll, I'm not sure how much you are going to need." Me:"I thought you said there was plenty?" Him: "How much do you need?!?"

Knowing that men are visual creatures, I took my right hand from the steering wheel and using my thumb and fore finger indicated a visual measurement "at least this much in the container" His disgruntled reply "I suppose we'd better stop on the way home" accompanied by a big sigh. At which time I turned onto the on ramp, shifted into 4th then 5th gear, turned on that delightful Bose sound system, and zoom zoomed my way south toward the grocery store THEN home!

Oh yeah, the car was another ho moment last fall.............another longer story. There is a car salesman in CedarRapids Iowa that quite literally shivered when my boss was car shopping and mentioned my name.....

What the heck is chicory anyway?  Sounds like something you make a switch out of.
