It's a flowering plant.  It's been used as a coffee additive for a long time in the South.  Originally it was done to stretch limited supplies of coffee.  I don't particulary care for it myself.  I just like good coffee, black and brewed in a French Press preferably.  I have never liked drip makers or percolators.

Not so much a ho, more a snob - especially when it comes to coffee, tea, wine, etc.

Caffeine is part of my life as it is an essential part of my creativity.. without it I'm functioning only at 50% efficiency. I cannot write without access to caffeine, even if it is just coffee from the bog standard arabica bean. Coffee just be very strong, black, unadulterated with any other addition other than water.

My friends laugh at me, because I often travel across London to a little Turkish shop to buy my coffee and tea.

Similar for me is tea.. Having lived for some years in Eastern Europe, and travelled throughout Eastern Europe tea isn't just a drink to me.. it's a ritual. My education in tea came from spending days on train journeys between Poland and places like Kazachstan and Siberia, where tea was brewed properly by the train conductor in a samovar and was drunk gazing through the window at the steppes, forests, and snowscapes one finds in this part of the world.

It's my ambition one day to own a samovar and to be able to enjoy the ritual of tea. Knowing that tea contains more caffeine than coffee, when I'm tired or stressed I prefer green tea, loose leaf, or perhaps rooibos.

I can write just as well fuelled by tea, except for comedy. Comedy requires coffee as poetry prefers tea, but this is just my experience.

Stella, i don't even wake up without caffeine. I'm not fussy about that first cup, all it's required to do is get me awake enough to function.  Subsequent cups must taste good but that first cup is purely functional.

Oh yeah.........I am also a cold brew ho. Heat is bad for coffee.  It brings out the acids and ruins the flavour.

I use the  "frech press"method. I let the water cool a bit before brewing. Of course, quality beans and your choice of roast are important. Do that make me a coffe ho too ? Sip

Mt. Dew for me.  Coffee only on very rare occasions. But when I do drink coffee, it's gotta have a bunch of sugar and (preferably flavored) cream..I just don't care for the taste of coffee on it's own.

Dew is like rocket fuel, man. Zooooom!

Every once in a while I'll have a Sprite or 7-Up Zero, or I'll get some high-end root beer or tangerine soda, but I tend to drink mostly water, lemon water, lime water, chocolate soy milk, & tangerine juice (I love tangerine). Lately I've been mixing up my own _Yoo-hoo type chocolate stuff. I bought some Ghirardeli unsweetened cocoa lst night. I'll give it a shot after I work up a little sweat out in the flower beds.

Wish I still drank coffee, though. Love that Aikane Kona Peaberry.

And I love Bavarian wheat beer. Especially Weihenstephan. Kinda hard to find here; I have a case of 500 ml. bottles on order. World's oldest brewery.
