Quivver -> Suspension........ (9/27/2005 8:22:20 AM)

Rather then HiJack the Hanging thread someone mentioned "Suspension is just complicated enough so that people need to share suggestions and experiences and it does have as much "baggage" is breath control" So, with that said, your thoughts, experiances,
sucesses and what to watch for would be appreciated.............

I thought I had replied to this already? Am I just being weird today?

No Em you did reply, but I was Bad and mentioned a name so the orginal got pulled.
I've taken my rubber chicken beating in stride and mended my ways. Hopefully
we can get back to Suspending things!
LOL

Dang it was a good reply, too.

Does suspension really have the same baggage that breathplay does?

I've been suspended and inverted suspended. I love all types of bondage. Being suspended, knowing someone took their time and skill to place you in that "precarious" vulnerable state, the skewed perspective of floating/swaying, the freedom of position with the tightness of the ropes...indescribable.

I've also had a severe anxiety from falling ever since a bad rappelling incident so those moments of being hoisted and brought down spike deep into my love of fearplay.

fastlane -> RE: Suspension........ (9/27/2005 10:34:56 AM)

my kid has brought home so many suspension notes from school this year, that just the term instills fear in me. Guess I'll stick to ground bondage.

Good thread though Quivver!

sanita -> RE: Suspension........ (9/27/2005 10:48:04 AM)

With larger subjects, suspension play has a lot of restrictions. More support points would be needed to keep the weight off the joints and to protect circulation. i have not tried it, yet, but i know i will. Master used to have a Mechanic's shop, and has been known to use the engine hoist for fun.

Being that my weight is such a big factor, i had thought of using a hammock. This is the knotted/net kind, not the woven mesh kind. It would place support all along the body being suspended, as well as leave plenty of interesting access for the One doing the suspending. And the mummification sensation could be pretty neat, too.

i am not sure if that would really work, it is all just an idea i had, but we will be trying it at some point.

target -> RE: Suspension........ (9/27/2005 11:07:03 AM)

I have used a hammock with both ends hung from the same hook. Really wraps around them and many,many access points. Lots o fun.

Oh, it will work. Think Japanese bondage or macreme off the ground. I've done it with the person suspended between two points. For vertical suspension of that type I've used a solid wooden bottom, about 18" across with a tubular net. The hoist is at the top of the net and the net squeezes when the top is hoisted. The biggest drawback is you need a minimum of about 12 feet for it to really work well, because the net stretches.

OK target and JohnWarren, now i am squirming.

*cough* i like this thread.

sultryvoice -> RE: Suspension........ (9/27/2005 4:03:20 PM)

I have been suspended in something called a Mantrap. If you haven't heard of one, just think of the chinese finger trick..you put a finger from your left had and one from your right and the tube squeezes as you try to pull them out..That is the Mantrap on a larger scale and you are suspended in style! You can'r move anything and the access points are numerous! I just love the thing..

Respectfully,
sultry

sweetpettjenny -> RE: Suspension........ (9/27/2005 4:42:00 PM)

Sultry, do you know of somewhere that explains this one in more detail? I'd love to take a look.

IronBear -> RE: Suspension........ (9/28/2005 8:03:52 AM)

Suspension is a definate must for me (Being the suspendor not the suspendee) once I have got past the basic shibari.

Imagine a "Chinese handcuff" six feet long, made with rope and stood on end. The person gets inside and the "handcuff" and it's tightened.

Good thread Quivver!
I know I told you I'd follow here, but suspension is something I might like to watch. At my size, I would NEVER allow anyone to try this on me, though I cannot say with absolute certainty I wouldn't ask my sub (in the future) to volunteer to have it done (not by moi). [8D] M
