This may seem controversial but hey! controversy can be fun right? I personally have this notion that many (maybe just some maybe not) women simply TOLERATE their male counterparts sexual tastes and desires, abilities and perhaps inabilities. I theorize further that some percentage of these women (sorry don't know much about male subs, please excuse) get involved in D/s when that toleration becomes such a part of their behavior that they view themselves as submissives. Perhaps in tolerating it (whatever 'it' may be) they feel they are submitting and grow to like the idea in other words. They may see it as a sacrifice or just normal give and take. They may not even view it as 'toleration'.
So, here's my poll.
Anonymously or not, are your 'soft' limits what you are tolerating? If you care to share, why?

I believe we all tolerate something or another. In a way isn't that the definition of submission? Sometimes doing what we do not desire for our mates to please them?

At the same time I don't have any soft limits. I have limits. My limits are simple. Nothing illegal and nothing that will harm me mentally or physically. Of course you can break these down into smaller segments, there is a lot that falls under those categories.

I like safe and sane play, period. Don't care to take my life in my hands when I am playing.
However, just because it is not my limit does not mean I will say no. I feel as a submissive to my dominant I have no right to say no. I am very aware all do not think the way I do, but it is the way I think.
So, you can add spanking to my list of what I tolerate. I just loathe spanking in any form. It isn't fun. More than likely the way I grew up, but it's me.
Anal sex, it hurts. I don't like it but I tolerate it.

That's a mere two so far for me.

Maybe i should clarify.... hmmm... Yes, we don't always have the Burger King experience. However, if you do something you don't like sexually (outside of punishment) you are indeed submitting to it. Does that make for genuine submission? Are we just a bunch of ppl doing things for our Masters we tolerate out of love? If you like it, not just tolerate it, does that mean you are doing something other than submit to it? Is it all supposed to be 'against our will'? No of course not.

I'll add some other choices to give it more depth.

True, however I do not like that which I do not like. Submission isn't all supposed to be against our will either....but the point I was trying to make is....most well all subs should be doing something from time to time they dislike to please their mates.
If not and they are refusing they are topping from the bottom in my mind.

Most forms of anal or needle play I'm willing to do for my Master. While I personally don't like the physical sensation I love the fact it pleases him that I participate for his pleasure. Often I find things I dread physically can really turn me on when I see the true joy or arousal in my Masters eyes. To deny my likes and participate in my dislikes is complete submission for me. Seeing him fulfill his desires with me is enough for me to enjoy the play for reasons other than personal pleasure in a physical sense.

Thank You suzanne! i agree. Therein lies the difference between tolerating it and submission. I'm curious how many don't feel that way at all.

i get off on giving pleasure, plain and simple. So there are things that i will tolerate knowing that it will give pleasure to the person i'm with and in turn turn me on even more. It's not the actual thing i'm tolerating that is turning me on but what it's doing to my partner. There are other things that i won't tolerate because i can't be past what is being done to even enjoy what it's doing for my partner.

personally i have a zero tolerance level for anything i do not like and or didnt suggest myself.....

like people .....

seriously....though...i do not have a level of tolerance...i like it MY way.....and THAT is NO s/m, no intimacy, no sex, no romance...no involvement..and absolutely ZERO compromise in life...i do not like 2nd choice.
