laviniaswrists -> What is an online "Troll"? (3/17/2008 5:23:58 AM)

Hello,

I am probably the only person out there who doesn't know the answer to this.  I get player, liar, fake, wannabe but what is an online troll?  What are some signs to look for?

Thanks.

trolling is a fishing practice, it involves running your line across the top of the water to draw more fish to the area you are casting in.
Online trolls send out a lot of messages, or other similar behavior, which, while it will piss off most of the women who see it, will be seen by so many that maybe one of them will bite and he can get laid everynow and again.
Like writing a form letter and mass mailing it to every woman in your state on collarme. Or posting personals in the forums, TOS be damned.
It's like that joke about the guy who walks around at the bar, walking up to each woman in turn and saying 'Hi, Wanna fuck?' His friend sees him getting slapped and says, "Why do you do that? Don't you get slapped alot?" to which he replies, "Well, yea, but I also get laid alot."

Few definitions from the urban dictionary

quote:

One who posts a deliberately provocative message to a newsgroup or message board with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument

quote:

One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers. He will spark of such an argument via the use of ad hominem attacks (i.e. 'you're nothing but a fanboy' is a popular phrase) with no substance or relevence to back them up as well as straw man arguments, which he uses to simply avoid addressing the essence of the issue

quote:

Verb: meaning to cruise for immediate sexual pleasure without commitment.

quote:

To lurk or loiter in an area or medium in a creepy, annoying, or hidden way.

quote:

an ugly or unattractive chick

quote:

severely unattractive male with limited speech capabilities

There are many more, most of them repetitive... but it depends on the context to how it is meant

You called?

What? [:D]

Lordandmaster -> RE: What is an online "Troll"? (3/17/2008 9:41:03 PM)

That's TRAWLING.  I do think that word is sort of lurking in the background of the internet word "troll," but I'm sure the word "troll" is also supposed to imply that the person is physically unattractive.  Otherwise he wouldn't have to be so unselective, after all.

No, it's TROLLING and tsatske is right. Of course TRAWLING would catch you an even greater number of fish or bottom feeders of any type. You might consider trolling a sport and trawling an occupation. "grins"

GreedyTop -> RE: What is an online "Troll"? (3/17/2008 11:34:45 PM)

bottom feeders? How'd my ex become the topic?

Aswad -> RE: What is an online "Troll"? (3/17/2008 11:41:39 PM)

We trolls hide under bridges, and then we eat unwary travellers, unless they manage to confuse our ... limited ... minds, or whatever. Through hiding out in cinemas, we've also learned to watch out for unlikely combinations of wizards, rangers, elf princes and halflings. Goblins aren't a problem this far north, but if they come, we'll eat them before they put hooks in us.

Health,
al-Aswad.

MissMagnolia -> RE: What is an online "Troll"? (3/17/2008 11:43:10 PM)

Not all of us Aswad, my lil sugar plum. I stopped eating travellers ages ago. Quite frankly, they gave me gas.[:D]

Aswad -> RE: What is an online "Troll"? (3/17/2008 11:51:23 PM)

Have you tried talking to the doctor about that?

Could be a malabsorption problem, or something about those new synthetic fibres (the trollistic medicine folks say it's not good for us).

Health,
al-Aswad.

It’s an extremely sexy male seeking a wonderful dominant lady.

Signs to look for are extreme sexiness marked by unrelenting modesty and sincerity.
