ORIGINAL: lazarus1983 Well, at least we still have Harlan "I don't write science fiction!" Ellison. This is a good thing? First Heinlein then Asimov and now Clarke. More and more I find myself turning to stories written by these men over anything written by the "hot new talents." has anything better than Nightfall, Moon is a harsh Mistress and 2001 been written in the last 30 years? Dune. Dune was first published in 1966 or 42 yeqars ago. Children of Dune, the final book of the trilogy and IMO the last evend decent Dune novel, came out in 1977 or 31 years ago. And I don't see Dune as being really comparable with the three works I already posted. The Dune saga is six books, therefore a hexology, not a trilogy. Unless of course you're looking at it from the viewpoint of two separate trilogies, which from your comment I think you are. Personally, I see all six books as one uninterrupted series. And while Children was good, my favorite is God Emperor Of Dune. And that book I would put up against "The Moon Is A Harsh Mistress." Hell, I would put God Emperor Of Dune up against either "Starship Troopers" or the uncut "Stranger In a Strange Land."
