Yes, and keep in mind that if your target audience is everyone then you won't seem very attractive.  There isn't much value in something that anyone can pick up.  Some of us enjoy specialty shops.

Good point! True, how true.

Ditto.  Most people are, in fact, specialty shops.  I certainly wouldn't be happy with a lukewarm submissive, or a girl who liked kink once or twice a month.  I also wouldn't do well with a girl who loved kink as much as I did, but only in our own private dungeon without any kind of contact with the BDSM community.

Thus, my ad says a few specific things: that I enjoy meeting and playing with others in the local community.

Making your profile clearly unique can be a challenge, so think about the kind of person you might like to meet, and write your profile in a manner that might attract them.  Don't say "I like watching movies, eating out, listening to music, and shopping." Everyone does these things.  Saying "I love Tarantino and Cusak movies, cooking fresh Italian food, listening to Robert Johnson, Pink Floyd, and Rachmaninov, and visiting JTs Stockroom." actually says something about me as a person.

Then again Olive Garden was voted the number one date restaurant, so we're not talking upscale society.

mmmmmmmmmm you mean it wasn't McDonalds????  Clearly your society is alittle more upscale for me to fit into.

What is with the Olive Garden hate?  Sometimes I find it to be the perfect place.  Chicken Marsala and a Venetian Sunset.  Oh yes.

Men, you're outnumbered.

I think this is simply not true. Men of quality are very few.

This, I agree with.

Demonstrating that quality is what this thread is about.

You can replace men with humans in this statement and, sadly, it is likely to be equally true.

It's a matter of philosophy for me. I would much rather support restaurants whose owners live in the community than some corporate food factory HQd dog knows where.  http://www.darden.com/

It's getting harder and harder to find an actual local restaurant.

Hippiekinkster -> RE: For men: how to find a woman here (3/20/2008 9:10:38 PM)

Stephan: " Aliases are pretty common in the lifestyle, but I recall meeting a fellow in a dungeon on Saturday who introduced himself as "Dominus."  I literally had to bite my tongue to keep from laughing.  Still, a name like that is fine online.

I have to admit, I have that problem, too. Was a dude called himself "Invictus maximus" on another site. I cracked up every time I saw it. I still get the gigglies sometimes when I see "LordWhipMaster" or some such.

I have that problem with spelling too, Stephan. Any post I make without a spelling or grammatic error is purely serendipitous.

What happens if I find her, but lose her at a later date in among the 'off topic' threads?

Any tips?

Um, you do realize that local people work in those bad corporate restaurants, right?

SimplyMichael -> RE: For men: how to find a woman here (3/21/2008 11:16:45 AM)

Corporate restaraunts are bad bad bad.  People frequent them because they are cheap and rarely horrible.  However, once  you have eaten actual chicken marsala your love for Olive Garden will fall off.

However, there are great small places that are inexpensive, you just have to find them and eat out often enough to know about them.  Parents often don't have that sort of time, thus Olive Garden.  There is a place here in town I have taken a number of people from CM who have come to town and they have all loved it, it is the same price as Olive Garden and yet the food is far fresher and it is locally owned.

Then there is real Italian...

SingleRarity -> RE: For men: how to find a woman here (3/21/2008 12:07:36 PM)

I wasn't actually dissing hard on the OG.  I like the food there, I just don't consider it Italian.  You go out for Olive Garden, or you go out for Italian....they're not the same thing.

bipolarber -> RE: For men: how to find a woman here (3/21/2008 12:10:12 PM)

Just one thing I'd like to point out: men may be facing stiff competition on this site, (the 3:1 ratio Stephan mentions) but that hardly means that I'm part of the great unwashed horde. Judging by the fact that I've met seveal nice people on this site, and even started relationships with a few, I'd say that I've managed to distinguish myself from the pack. Mostly by being polite, honest, and treating the women I'm interested in as a person rather than as some kind of porno induced fantasy.

It's amazing how much better your chances are, when your first email isn't something like: "On your knees Bitch! I am the Master of your dreams!"

But then, maybe I shouldn't say anything. If the rest of the herd wakes up, my chances will be reduced.

'Grand that, Stephann, I'll take it on board.

The way I see it is this: any man worth his salt will know exactly how to deal with women.

This is about the size of it:

a) You need a bit of crack on you (English slang for a sense of humour).

b) You'll need to be respectful but firm - you like her, but you're the boss.

c) You'll need to be sure of yourself to win the prize - don't worry about your looks/height/cock size/style because she'll be worrying about her looks/whether you'll find her funny/whether you'll like her tits/hair etc.

SimplyMichael -> RE: For men: how to find a woman here (3/21/2008 12:52:12 PM)

Trust me, the rest of the herd never wakes up!

As for meeting women on this site, I have never had any luck with women here, many seem terrified of me (BSB was, and in her I perhaps used up all my luck?) and the rest seem utterly indifferent.  Of course I have rarely had my profile set up to attract women as it can't have anything to do with my charming personality and my amazing level of personal modesty.

All kidding aside, it does at times amaze me how silly some of the profiles of men are, of course they probably read mine and think "what a poseur"...

spinninsweetness -> RE: For men: how to find a woman here (3/21/2008 1:28:39 PM)

To the OP- a very interesting take on the other side. I've not been looking for very long, but I've found appart from deleteing the ones who havent read your profile, the 'on your knees bitch' wankers etc, the ones who've read your profile and can comment on it appeal the most.

Althought this is all conjecture, I've yet to meet anyone in RL, still from the conversations I've had that originated here the ones that appealed the most were those who read my profile! And who have filled theirs in! I dont care how long the profile, as long as its there and readable.

As for pics, mine isnt here yet cos I have worried about being seen- Im in childcare, so not the best proffesion to be outed to! But my pic is awaiting acceptance and then we'll see... and for you guys, I dont care if there is a pic or not- as long as the profile is fitting, I'll reply!
