Good afternoon Lady's i would like YOUR opinions concerning online training "academy's".Would any of the Dommes here view the participation in one as a plus for a prospective sub.Can any practible knowledge/skill be gleaned from graduating from one of these programs.At present i am considering joining one but don't know whether or not i would be wasting time and resources better spent in other persuits for a DOMME

Dnomyar -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 10:40:53 AM)

If you want on-line training pay attention to these forums.

LadyPact -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 10:43:13 AM)

I would tend to think that it would be a negative, but that is just My personal perception.   I tend to think less of those who expound of their 'online' experience, than those who are willing to take the real life plunge.

slvemike4u -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 10:59:27 AM)

Thanks for the replies but possibly i wasn't clear the online training  is something i would do in the hopes to attract a real life Domme,not as a substitute for r/t....

If you're asking if we think this would help attract a real life Domina, then, I will tell you, it wouldn't attract me.  It would only give you preconceived notions regarding ME that I would have to "untrain" before I could "train."

How do you know whether these trainings would be condusive to what your real time Domme would want, once you find her?  We each have our own way of doing things and vary in what we want from our slaves.  I see it only as an act of impatience on your part, and a way to circumvent the agonizing "process" of finding a real life Owner.  Which, even if you attend this online acadamy, you will have to do anyway.

LadyPact -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 11:11:13 AM)

You may be missing the fact that some of us, centered on real time, don't go for the bs of the online thing.  It means little in the big picture.

Madame4a -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 12:49:36 PM)

if your interest is offline, then do stuff offline --

personally, I don't see much value in it, particularly if you'll be charged for it... you can get it free in plenty of situations -- off line

GoddessDustyGold -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 12:57:06 PM)

Frankly, it would not be an attractive "qualification" to Me.  It would cause Me to sigh and wonder what it is you have "learned" that I now have to undo.  After that sigh I would realize I do not have the patience to undo it, so you would fall by the wayside.
In all fairness, I would have to know what this training academy includes in the curriculum before I could make a fair assessment.
Simple answer:  save your money and keep and open mind regarding what your goals are and how to prepare yourself for real time.  Which would include real time experiences such as actually following through and meeting Ladies for coffeerlunch/dinner and attenidng munches, demos and other real time events.  Consistently!

Lockit -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 1:50:38 PM)

I agree with the others.  I want to train my submissive's myself.  Only I know what I want.  Although some worth might be found in online somethings or others... nothing compares to real life.  I too, think you can gain as much from these boards as you could from online instruction.

I know it must be very difficult to feel like you aren't doing enough to attract a dominant and you might want to do something... to get things moving along.  But just hold on before you go spending money.  If you need the more personal interactions, try to hook up with others in your area who are in the lifestyle, whatever side of the paddle they are on.  Just don't get too hungry. That's when we typcially are sorry later on.  Good luck to you!

Pyrrsefanie -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 2:01:16 PM)

So you go to this online academy, get "trained" to serve a Domina...

...and then I can almost guarantee you that once you actually enter a real-time relationship, you're going to find that what the academy taught you will not match up nice and neatly with what she actually wants out of you.

It's the same issue with going to a pro-domme in the hope of receiving enough "training" to serve the Mistress of your dreams.  You'll only be learning to serve in the way that your online instructor, specifically, wants you to serve, not how the woman you may end up meeting afterwards necessarily wants things.  And that can lead to problems which can only be remedied by unlearning those behaviors and basically starting from scratch.

That being said, online training could be a good way to gain some experience in the relative comfort of your own home.  If you've never tried CBT or sissification, for instance, and the online training intends to cover these areas, it may be less threatening to try these out basically on your own than to risk finding out a bit too late that they're both hard limits for you.  It's a good way to explore your particular kinks which can, in turn, help you find a compatible Mistress for a long-term real-time relationship.

Of course it's all about your darling dominant, but compatibility and comfort with what you're being asked to do is, in my opinion, still important.  It's also important to be able to identify your limits vs. hard limits and to not confuse the two.  A good femdom should push your limits, but never over the edge into the hard limits.

Anyway, good luck with your endeavors.

Najakcharmer -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 2:04:00 PM)

I don't normally just quote the entireity of someone else's post, but this one deserves applause.  I couldn't have said it better.

There's nothing wrong with scratching your itch with a pro domme, whether online or in person.  But don't, please, delude yourself that one person's notion of slave training will have jack shit to do with what another person wants in a D/s relationship.  Have fun and enjoy your online training, but understand that other dommes are not likely to consider your experience to be of much significance or value to them, and some may consider it a negative.

canupleaseme -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 3:30:23 PM)

I dont really take much notice of it personally.  When I have met people in the past its always been my experience with them at that time that I have based my decisions on not their level of experience or where they have gotten their experiences from.  I guess for some people for a long time they can only get online domination for whatever reason and fair enough.  When I take people on they will learn to do it my way or they don't do it at all, every new relationship will require training in my experience so it doesn't matter to me what you've done already.

LadyHathor -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 3:31:06 PM)

would you trust a Dr who took medical courses online?

would you trust a Domina who took flogger lessons on line?

I can assure you, they will take your money and leave you just as you are, glued to the screen.

Lashra -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 4:38:55 PM)

Personally for me I'd rather train my own submissive. That way he can learn to do things the way that I like them rather then the way someone else might like them. If they teach giving pedicures, massages and the like that might be helpful but my sub bought some books and taught himself, so you could save yourself some money and just teach yourself.

Again thank YOU Lady's

MasterFireMaam -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 7:27:21 PM)

I would see it as a negative thing. These academies are usually about your fantasies, wants and desires and have few real-life service oriented aspects to them.

khem -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 7:37:03 PM)

I would consider something billed as a "BDSM training academy" online as a negative.  Often (as MasterFireMaam stated) these are just about exploring fetishes and have little to do with service or skills a Domme might look for.

I would consider online cooking classes (that you could try out in rt), pedicure classes, and things of that sort to be helpful as long as you had the ability to try out the new skills rt to really get it down.

Venatrix -> RE: online training academy's (3/19/2008 10:57:11 PM)

If you are really interested in self-training to make yourself more attractive to a potential domina, you might wish to order from Amazon "Erotic Slavehood: A Miss Abernathy Omnibus."  A review states that it:  Combines Miss Abernathy’s Concise Slave Training Manual and Training With Miss Abernathy in one deluxe volume for the first time.  It will set you back a whopping $10.85, plus postage.  I've read it and think some of the exercises might be fruitful, as the book is very much geared to how you can render service to your domina, rather than just being all about your kink.

I tend to agree - and if you are hoping to get some "training" while in pursuit of a r/t Domme - there are plenty who will consider training a sub. Even if it is not the relationship you are hoping for (ie - if you are looking for a life partner in your Domme, but you find a Domme who is married, not looking for that - but still willing to train you) that experience is going to be far more beneficial in the long run, and appealing to that future Domme you seek. Go to munches, etc. and if you cannot find anyone, you may find a Pro Domme - some will consider training a new boy. The r/t experience simply cannot compare to the "online training".

I also agree that if you are interested in just learning more online - subscribing to these forums is a very good way to learn - especially since posts often deal with problems and solutions that are presented from r/t experiences.

Good luck!
