Doll?  Your food wouldnt stay down because it agitates your stomach.  Acid reflux is a result of you wearing away your esophagus thingit, and the valves that close after you swallow have weakened because of you forcing food back out of it.  Hows that for a sight unseen diagnoses?  Good enough for ya?

That is an excellent analysis.

I never even told anyone about my eating disorder until about 7 years into it. So obviously it was not for "attention." And I do not tell my family about it much. They do not even think it is serious, even though I have been hospitalized. They think I just need to eat less LOL...I am trying to get well now, so I do see a nutritionist once a week but it's more an internal thing...no matter how much help I get, it is up to me to get better. Nothing else is going to "fix" me.

An alcoholic has a better chance to improve when he stands up and in public announces that he is an alcoholic. You are in a grievously serious bulimic condition and since I read KyttynTheMynx's analysis about the cause of your gastroesophagal reflux it is even worse than I thought before, for I do not know whether that valve will ever regain its ordinary functionality.

I recommend that you print out all these threads of yours and bring them to your family and tell them that you have a very serious problem.

LOL it is not a big deal. EVERY bulimic has acid reflux. It is very common. I have tried everything that medicaid will cover...Nexium...Prilosec...Pepcid...they do not work for me anymore. There is nothing else that can be done. I just need to continue to do well and eventually it will heal its self.

I hope so. If so, I estimate that it will take as much as two years at the least and possibly as much as five years for the valve to heal.

Admitting on a forum that you are bulimic is a first step, but you really ought to tell your relatives. Yes, I know that you already did, but I also know that they do not realize that you are in deep shit. So print out the threads and present them with that information.

oh horseshit!!! The CAUSE of the acid reflux may stop but by then it might be too late. Stomach acid is often compared to battery acid. It is THAT strong. Think of it this way; the acid in your stomach is able to liquify a full meal in less then 4 hours.
This acid is what you are subjecting your esophagus to each and every time you purge. The esophagus is not made of iron. It is a rather delicate  part of the digestive system. Damage done by stomach acid generally requires surgical intervention.

Ok.  You need a reality check.  The damage you did to your body is not gonna magically go away thanks to faeries and pixies and rainbows.  YOU ARE FUCKED UP FOR LIFE.  This is lifetime shit youre dealing with.  The weakened esopahgus?  LIFETIME.  The valves beaing weakened?  LIFETIME!  Acid?  LIFETIME!  Get used to it, and stop saying its not a big deal.  Its a deal bigger than you wanna admit.  THATS the first step you need to take.

• On average, a fart is composed of about 59 percent nitrogen, 21 percent hydrogen, 9 percent carbon dioxide, 7 percent methane and 4 percent oxygen. Less than 1 percent of their makeup is what makes farts stink.
• The temperature of a fart at time of creation is 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.
• Farts have been clocked at a speed of 10 feet per second.
• A person produces about half a liter of farts a day.
• Women fart as much as men.
• The gas that makes your farts stink is hydrogen sulfide. The more sulfur rich your diet, the more your farts will stink. Some foods that cause really smelly farts include: beans, cabbage, cheese, soda and eggs.
• Most people pass gas about 14 times a day.

Oh, dollparts?  by the way?

quote:

Physical consequences of bulimia include broken blood vessels, dehydration, tremors, blurred vision, cramps, constipation, internal bleeding, infections, damage to the bowel, liver and kidney damage, loss of tooth enamel, or suicidal depression. http://www.christianet.com/anorexia/effectsofbulimia.htm

Sounds pretty long term to me...

most of those are just when you are engaging in bulimia.

broken blood vessels in the face, eyes and chest are from purging and go away within a few days.

dehydration is just when you are vomitting/using laxatives.

blurred vision is from malnutrition and electrolyte imbalances.

muscle cramps are from low potassium, magnesium or sodium.

constipation is either from abusing laxatives or not eating at all.

internal bleeding is not long term...it happens when you are binging and purging...and generally results in death.

infections are from purging...not long term.

bowel problems, liver and kidney problems are long term...but I don't have any of those right now. My kidneys were a little off in my blood work but it was probably just from dehydration b/c the idiots in the hospital refused to give me water the first 5 days I was there.

damage to the enamal isn't gonna kill ya.

anyone can be depressed or suicidal...I am not.
