Give me fifteen minutes and a bottle of vodka and I bet I could change your point of view.  [:D]

A few simple things that may help you.
First and foremost safety should be your priority. Home made toys are fun, but be careful about what and how you craft. Uninteded edges, materials that are not suitable, these are risks you must be wary of. Check for warning lables on anything you plan to use. Woods and leathergoods could be treated with things that can cause skin irritation, or worse. Painted items could be toxic and hazardous. These things are important to be aware of.

But enough lecture, I do have ideas to share.

Spreader bar; visit a hardware store. Aluminum pole 3-5' in length , 10-15' nylon rope, three eye hooks, a drill capable of repeated use on the pole, four bolts and nuts matching the drill bit.

Instructions; Drill holes in the aluminum pole,  start with the central point, and then six inches out in either direction. Continue in three inch measures from there. Feed the eye hooks (photo of an eye hook; http://www.bosunsupplies.com/images/194-0.jpg ) to either end of the pole, secure in place with bolts and nuts at a suitable spread. nylon rope can be used to secure a person to the pole. Additionally, the spare eye hook can be used to secure the spreader bar to something else.

flogging tools;

Cat o' Nine Tails(Yeah, we're making all nine. It's nice.); leather cord, round or square. Nine lengths each being at least three feet in length, one small ring, brass, four lengths fine wire 3", 1 hot glue gun. You can find these items in a hobby and craft shop.

First: tie each length of leather to the brass ring securely.
Second; braid the three lengths on one end, the three lengths on the other end, and the three lengths in the middle, leaving ten to fourteen inches free
Third; secure the braids with the lengths of wire.
fourth; use the hot glue gun to cover the wire, both to hold it in place, and to secure the sharp edges.
fifth; braid the three braided lengths together.
sixth; secure the braided braids with final length of wire.
seventh; use hot glue gun to cover wire.
eighth; tie one or two knots in the end of each length of leather.
nine; enjoy.

Demon Spanker (A custom of my own creation)

Visit; Hot Topic (or similar) Craft Store

Purchase: one studded leather belt, long. One hardwood pole, two feet in length and not too thick to wrap your hand around. Hot glue gun.

From the bottom, measure handle, plus eight inches for the sake of having proper balance. This is a stopping point.

cut belt strips long enough to wrap around the pole, (and in this case, being a little too short is much better than being at all too long, don't be afraid to leave a stud's width open if need be.)  and secure them to the pole with the hot glue gun leave a space of about half an inch between each strip, stopping at the afforementioned mark (a slight overlap won't hurt anything.)

Use to taste. But remember, it's hard wood, it's heavy, and it's studded. It will HURT, and more importantly it is capable of HARMING. so for the love of all that is sacred, show the tool the respect it deserves. Do not play with knives that you may get cut, and all that.

greetings bondman,

we use wall mounted hooks and elastic cords with hooks on the end for bondage purposes. both of these things can be found at just about any hardware/home depot type store. i've found through my limited experience that almost everything in a hardware store is pervertable, at least in terms of bondage :)

respectfully,
annabelle.

Well you can frighten your sub with those things if you get kick out of fear play ;)

DerangedUnit -> RE: Homemade B D S M I need ideas (3/22/2008 5:07:17 AM)

yeah im cheap and wont buy any toys either (and the bought ones tend to break to fast) so ive made my own collars leashes clothes restaints whips canes switches masks hoods and a few suspension rigs all from stuff ive found lying around places or from hunting is how i got most of the leather just use your imagination i can send you a site on how to make a cheap tazer or prison style tatto gun if you are into that to and i can vouch that they work when made right and are safe.

Kitte9 -> RE: Homemade B D S M I need ideas (3/22/2008 8:30:35 AM)

Word of warning....if you go to the depot for chain, do not use it as a flogger. Any of the smaller link sizes have edges that can tear the skin. I'm looking at a bulk online place for the chain for my flogger.

MsLadySue -> RE: Homemade B D S M I need ideas (3/22/2008 8:50:46 PM)

I've made several floggers from suede and leather. I bought skirts for $5-$10 at our local Value Village stores (used clothing), took them apart and cut the strips as needed. I always have doweling on hand from Home Depot that I use for handles and cover them using braided leather or suede.

Thin wood doweling (1/4 - 1/2 inch) can be used as a cane for next to nothing.

One inch wood doweling works great for making spreader bars. Screw a strong eye screw in each end to clip cuffs to. These bars can be cut to any length you want. Stain or paint to suit your taste.

I switched to aluminum after a pretty bad incident involving playful struggle turning into a splintered dowel rod, and a laceration requiring professional medical treatment... Just thought I'd throw that in there...

Edited to note that it could have been a quality control issue, or perhaps I shouldn't have tickled so much. Either way, it ruined the mood...

Carrera23 -> RE: Homemade B D S M I need ideas (3/23/2008 6:35:45 AM)

I am so glad I found this! I had been looking to see if anyone else had any homemade ideas for toys. Latley, it has been quiet a hobby for me and I love it. Nothing is more fun than going to the hardware store with your mother and she is going, "Why are you buying that?" Surprisingly, my mother is proud of me, haha. I have to say I was hoping people would have more websites with stuff that I dont already have bookmarked. Hopfully tomorrow morning I should be getting a book on making toys.

I started out with making a rope flogger, and as lame as it might sound, they are quiet fun! My Master has been making me make quiet a few to get different ideas/different styles. Its all been a learning process with each one I make. Each time I make a new toy, I learn something new, something better to do. (Ohh yeah, to make a rope flogger, just do a search for "how to make a rope flogger", you will find a few good different ideas.)

I guess the best ideas people have given out is just get creative!! Just let your mind go! Someone brought up the paint stick, I have one of them too! We also have a cain made from the rod you would find on window blinds, you know, the cheep kind where you pull them up and down and use the stick to turn the slates. Master and I have also spent quiet a bit money on stuff, probley did not help that when we went shopping, DomDepot (I love that name!!!) and Pet Smart were right next to each other!!

I just have one question for anyone. For some reason, (Its not as bad now as it was when I would first buy supples), when I walk in the store and ask someone where the stuff is, I swear they look right at me and think, "Ohh I know what she is buying that rope for!" When walking into a tack shop, how do you not get the jitters about the fact you dont have a horse, you dont ride one, probley have not even petted one since you were 5 when you went for a pony ride at the county fair? I would like to hear what people have to say about that.

Anyways, happy huntting and hope you have fun!!

Some of the most intense pain inflicters Sir has came from Target. The most intense is a wooden spoon with a hole cut in the middle of it. Iguess maybe the whole is for airating something emulsified or whipping of something. Spatuas and spoons do send me to subspace. Go figure?

.... well maybe not quite all ............. (I'm thinking Cali, Christine, GT, wenchie et al of course, who usually skip the string and elastic shelves and head straight for the heavyweight end of the store  [;)]).

Dear GT!!! Who am I to judge? The fact that you are utterly depraved, with perverted aspirations far beyond my own mild and gentle horizons is what makes you so delicious [:D]

Me?? utterly depraved?? *checks # of paddles next to my name*...HEY! I'm DERANGED, not depraved!!

i'm honest, and so is my Owner. i got weird looks at first, but since then (we go to the same two places for our leather supplies) the people know us and we laugh and it's quite fun to go shopping. Have even had THEM suggest a few ideas! W/we laughed and just have a good time. Let's face it, we're not the first odd balls in the shop, and won't be the last! Same situation for HomeDepot, especially when i asked where their tubing was. "What kind were you looking for? Was it for this?... no, it's for a whip core (needed something hollow)... pause, weird look. Uh... you might want to try the plumbing department. It's eight isles down."

If you let your imagination wander, you can find a use for just about anything for a play toy. So just about any store has posibilities. If you get jittery or nervous about it, try going to a bigger place where people won't notice you as much. W/we have two Tandy stores here. One is a small shop where everything is noticed, and the other is a large wherehouse where most people can shop freely without people asking questions. Course, not us... been there too many times now! *giggle* Ah the joys of shopping for toy supplies!

chaosforge -> RE: Homemade B D S M I need ideas (3/23/2008 2:34:01 PM)

start with what you've already got. rethink it a bit. i've got 6 nice rope, blood red in color, by shredding and braiding twin sheets. -just phoenix

LPslittleclip -> RE: Homemade B D S M I need ideas (3/28/2008 5:57:10 PM)

one of my favorite ones is saran wrap and a synthetic duster mummification bondage and when you run the duster over it you get a static charge. i cant go into any store and not find a toy. pet, dollar, grocery lumber even radio shack. think of what you want to feel sting thud tickle etc and look for what can produce that.
