It appears that religion is linked to a more happy life. And in order to extend that happy life after eating all that junk, snuggle up to a kitten and cut your chance of a heart attack without moving a single muscle.

How did you come by that statement? Upon careful reading once again, perhaps you shall notice that the first article is a study linking happiness to religion, and the other article speaks of cats having some effect on humans that lowers the human's chance of heart attack. How you got cat people don't need God is me.

I used to have a bumper sticker that said "Many years ago, CATS were worshipped as GODS...they have never forgotten this"

My old vet's office had a plaque on the wall. It said,"Dogs think they are human, Cats think they are God."

Cats often seem aloof and (dare I say it) stuck-up. But a cat who truly cherishes the human in its care will show that love when it's really needed. When I had my beloved Titania, if I was down, she would make herself available for kisses, strokes, and even a few tears dripped onto her fur.

Of course, when the storm was over, she'd retire to a corner and wash that fur furiously.

I had an adoring cat named Missy. from the moment I picked her up she was my  baby. She followed me everywhere and came when I called. She liked to play and frolic with the dogs. One day there was a scuffle behind the house in an alley used largely by homeless people. I heard she was out there and ran. She never came back. We never knew what happened. I was pregnant at the time and quite worried that she would be jealous of my future child. While pregnant I heard of a cat that needed a home. A white cat with one gray smudge on her forehead. I named her Matilda. When I layed on my side she rested on my hip. From the moment my son was born she has acted like his second mother. She sits in his room watching til he falls asleep. When I am getting him up in the morning, she does her Siamese ragging meow"yea, get up." You talk to her she answers back. Who knows why cats choose you for a short time or a long time. We are honored to have them.....even if she annoys me to know end(she talks too much and whines).

People who attend services regularly have a stronger support system than do people who don't. After all, if your main times of seeing others is down at the pub, do you really believe any of them will visit you in the hospital, come to your mother's funeral etc?

The pet study is odd however. It talks only about cats. Does that mean pet ownership health benefits do not extend to dog owners or parrot fanciers or people with pet hamsters, etc?

FangsNfeet -> RE: happiness in faith with a cat (3/20/2008 9:45:32 PM)

The only purpose of a cat is to remind you that you're furniture was looking too new.
