Ok, heres my first question for the board.

What's your favorite knife/ knives for knifeplay?

I have a Ka-Bar Warthog (since discontinued)  http://www.fernknives.com/ka-bar/black-warthog/173/index.html  It feels nice in my hand and well balanced.

Do any of you sterilize them before use, and if you do, how?  Autoclave, alcohol soak, dishwasher, match/lighter?

Thanks in advance.

Hehe... I'm a freaking knifewhore, I swear >.>

I have an antique Italian Pearl-handled switchblade that I love.  I've also got a few Gerbers lying around, and a tactical switchblade knife I bought a few years ago.

The Gerbers I usually use soap and water on, the switchblades I hold the blades in boiling water with tongs... pretty sure that boiling the handles would be bad. :-/

I want a K-Bar now. :(  The tanto style looks pretty badass.

I really enjoi knife play something about drawing blood drives me wild... The knife doesn't matter as long as it's sharp.  My first time with knife play I borrowed a steak knife from a resturant.

I seem to have lost count as to how many blades i own , they just keep calling to me and like a cute lil pup at the pound i take them home .
As far as sterilization i boil and steam clean and surgical scrub them , even if there is no blood drawn  i do it after each use .Some of my fav's are the  crazy big and scary fantasy type knives and blades  , the kind when you pull it out show it and then  use a butter knife  just for the mind trip  then move to the front shredding  some clothing with the massive blades . Lynn i can relate to the  edge knife blade hord line of thinking , then again  it seems that way for my whole bdsm tool collection

One that I made myself.

I'd use an exacto Knife for cutting.and auto clave it on a steam tray in a pressure cooker.

I perfer using knives that are 8 to 10 inches in link, colored black with carbon, and around 2 inches of width give or take half an inch.

Decorative Bud K knives do the trick. They look nice/intemidating but have much more show than cutt. The look and fear of the knife is what counts in the mind play you are doing with the submissive. I like to create illiousions or precieved dangers.

Regardless of the knife, I like to have the blade submerged in ice cold water and then use it to peel off the hot wax I dripped over my subs body.

As for other activities with blades, I like to tickle clits as well as place them up against ones throat while getting a blow job.

For sterilizing, I just keep the blades wiped clean with a damp cloth or alcohol pad.

My husband gave me my boot knives -- the sheaf clips onto the boot or belt for that matter. Very easy to handle.

A few years ago I got a "fancy" blade with a curved end, looks sort of eastern. I use it more for mental effect and the boot knives for control.

I don't do blood play only line drawing and fear play. But after I use them they go into the dishwasher and I use an antiseptic wipe before use again.

Since Fox has a phobia of knives we don't use them that often. Now for anyone who thinks I have no business playing with his phobias, you should know that he very purposely gave me that right when we negotiated our owner-slave contract -- he didn't have to do so, I was fine letting a very real hard limit stand but he wanted to demonstrate that my ownership went beyond his past and the phobia it created. This means that I get a very special emotional charge when I do use knives with him.

I like a knife without a tapered end… squared off angle cut end.

The thick blade and an angle cut end, like a katana’s blade, allows me to gage the depth of cut by setting my finger along the edge of the blade.  The angled tip allows a long and easily controlled cutting surface instead a narrow penetrating end.

There's definitely something to be said for the terror effect, but being blindfolded for most knife play so far, utility knives have worked really well for us. They hold a good, sharp edge for a long time. For the sighted sessions, we have a couple of daggers. I wonder if there's a good way to work in the broadsword...

Kinda brings to mind the scene from the Animatrix in which the guy and girl are sparring with their katanas blindfolded, and it turns into rudely interrupted foreplay...

A butter knife or a spork. If you are not cutting what difference does it really make? Oh right, it is the "mind fuck!" lol.

Because a bowie knife causes more fear when entering delicate holes than a butter knife.

Why?

Edited to add...If you know you are not going to get cut...Where is the threat? It's not exactly a rollercoaster we are talking about here...It is a piece of metal. If there is an agreement that blood will not be spilled then there is no reason to expect that it will. So no fear.

Because it's sharper and when it pricks it hurts a lot more.

But if you are in agreement that there is no blood then where is the threat? Do you think that your Dom will suddenly stab you or slice something? A prick with a knife, big deal...You could get the same sensation from a plastic fork or spork.
