One of the more spectacular demonstrations I've done was many years ago whilst in my second marriage. My then wife and i were asked to do a fire dance for a local kink group. The finale' was a naked female suspended by her wrists and I (on one knee) blew fire (a holocast) at her so that it wrapped about her body. My wife did the same from a possition of 45degrees from me and then we blew a joint holocast. Whilst she was scared shitless, she was not harmed. No burns but some minor frizzling of her pubes. We have used a fire retardent gel in her hair so that she had a wet look but it did protect her. A fire retardent blindfold was in place too to protect her eyes.

Hmmmm mayhap I need to do this again sole this time and have the whole thing captured on camera... my ex hid all the pics when we split so I haven't any to show you.

As of yet I still haven't done it.... I am looking for the right location, as I live in an apartment.. I don't think here would be a good idea, Thanks to all the info I have read I am more knowledgeable about the ins and outs of where and how.
Devils Fire though.. What kind of safeguards do you have to have? Still the same as Fireplay???

Hehe.. had my first taste of fireplay last night... VERY erotic to say the least... It was an experience that I want to have again and again and again!!

We use the jet type lighters for this they heat the probe yellow/white hot fairly quickly (5 seconds or so).

Soldering torches will do much the same mostly you want the cone shaped blue flame.

It's not abuse if a slave has consented to be a slave. The black (negro?) slaves in the US (worldwide of whatever race) would have been laughed at (minimum) if they complained to anyone, legal or not, about what their master did to them. The difference between a lifestyle slave and the black slaves is that a lifestyle slave has given informed (hopefully) consent. What happened to the black slaves was plain wrong.

Now I'll be the first to admit that this is my interpretation but most dictionary's agree with me (not that they intended to ;-). www.dictionary.com doesn't quite hit it but "The new Lexicon Webster's Dictionary of the English Language 1988 Edition" has this to say:

slave: (sleiv) 1. n. a person who is the property of, and completely subject to, another // a person victimized by another --posters note (oooh that sounds so sexy)-- // (etc.
not relevant.

property: (properti:) ... n. a thing or things owned // real estate // (etc. not relevant)

Guess what I can do with real estate I own. I can ignore and let it grow over, I can dig holes in it, I can plant a rose garden, I could sell it. I could do nuclear tests in it (ok I don't have the resources for it but it was fun to say), I could donate it to charity, I could painstakingly tend every inch of it. I may or may not do any of those things, but it is my choice.

A submissive would certainly have the right to safeword before it touched the skin (after as well I suppose, but at that point why bother safewording? ;-)

Legally, these days, it's abuse regardless of what anyone has agreed to or not.

This is a more specialized form of fireplay/scarification. Ashtrays are a fairly specific desire. I've seen it referred to as "human ashtray" most frequently.

I saw it quite a bit in the gay scene. Cigars were popular (my smoke is bigger than your smoke?) for some reason. I recall that Hellfire in its gay mode, Cellblock, even had "cigar nights" and they weren't to the appreciation of the fine bouquet.

I highly recommend flash paper and flash cotton for play. I don't know why one person put it under "Advanced" fireplay, but this stuff is really, really safe compared to alcohol.

Flash paper and flash cotton are user friendly, burn at low temps (I mean really low), they don't run like liquids such as alcohol. They are easy to control the placement and use of and burn very quickly (so quickly I've seen it placed on paper and not ignite the paper.)

Just so I can make it clear how safe this stuff is... As a ten year old I used to play with this stuff all the time. Put it on my skin and light it. Throw fireballs with my hand. Re-wrap the end of someone's cigarette with it. Put it in a crazy place and use a remote starter to freak peopel out. In other words -- if ten year olds can raise hell with this stuff and magicians can use it around doves and rabbits, its pretty damn safe.

So flash paper and flash cotton are my nominee for "Fireplay for Dummies"

Why do Master Archer and I categorize it under 'Advance Play'?

Safety (MSDS) data for nitrocellulose
STABILITY:
Very flammable.
May explode or ignite without warning when dry.

RISKS:
R1 Explosive when dry.
R3 Extreme risk of explosion by shock, friction, fire or other sources of ignition.
R11 Highly flammable.

Proper use of flash cotton is not as basic as you make it out to be.

If someone placed a wad of flash cotton the size of a marble on skin and lit it..a 3rd degree burn and scarification might result: The burn might destroy the nerves and the blood vessels in the skin. As the burns heal there will be dense scarring.*****Flash cotton needs to be pulled and thinned before placing on the skin.

Storage of flash cotton is another reason we put this on our 'Advanced Play' list. Carry a wad of flash cotton in your pocket or leave a pack near your flame during a fireplay scene and you are setting yourself up for chaos and harm. Flash cotton should be stored wet and in a non-flamable container. (our local magic shop keeps all their nitrocellulose in a fireproof safe). During a scene flash cotton should be placed well away from any flame or flame ignition source.

As a ten year old I used to ignite dry leaves in the street with a magnifying glass...with no thought of what could happen if the flame spread. I am not ten now.

Yes Elegant, you are right... but the points you bring up are generally on the package when you buy it! How Advanced is that!? You read the package and it tells you proper storage and what not to do. (Including not ball it up) So is Drano so advanced only trained plummers should use it because not everyone can follow instructions?

Second: Its practically tautology that you have to keep it in a safe place.... Its highly flammable!

It usually comes in a zip lock package that locks in moisture so its not too difficult to store -- for years. But yes, if you can't figure out that you have to pay mind to storage instructions of highly flammable materials... well then don't attempt fireplay -- actually dont' attempt using matches... or for that matter don't attempt even cooking with an open flame because you may be retarded and need to go to a special home for special people.

Second:

Yes, if you ball up flash cotton into a dense marble, it will burn hot, but lets not exaggerate its danger. I personally welcome beginners to experiment with Flash Paper and Flash Cotton.

WHY? Because after reading the two minute one page instructions to flash paper or flash cotton, you know how to not screw things up. WOW, so advanced!

Like I said, I used books of flash paper and flash cotton I got MAIL ORDER as a kid.

Elegant: I will thank you for making the point about not balling up flash cotton densely. BUT really, I think you can distill safety for this stuff to four main points...

1) Its highly flammable -- so be careful how you store it and watch for static and other accidental ignition sources
2) Don't pack it densely and if possible leave lots of air in between it. It burns less hot that way.
3) It burns upward.
4) Start small. Experiment to start out with really little amounts.

Personally, I just don't want to frighten people into not experimenting with Flash Paper and Flash Cotton because I know how easy it all is. Hence my "I used it when I was ten comment."

Lastly, just to take one more pot shot and slam someone for fun (Elegant, I actually liked what you had to write but you set it up for me) Elegant you write....
