Glad you are okay pahunk, hope the water does not rise.

The weather has been really weird the last 5-10 years, would not be surprised if they have
snow in May in Chicago.

there's documented evidence that it has snowed in June in Chicago

and bring a coat even in August.   :-)

'Same old weather, here.........slight drizzle, overcast, the skies are arumbling, the ducks are taking refuge under the trees, the trees are whistling to the tune of The Great Escape, and someone has just thrown herself off a bridge right outside my home. All in a day's work, I suppose.

DomKen -> RE: Bad Weather/Floods/Storms anyone? (3/21/2008 3:00:03 PM)

Looks like I've gotten anopther 2 or maybe 3 inches. I guess I'm ordering in for dinner. pet just called and begged forgiveness that she will be late getting here due to the snow so maybe a night in is entirely called for. Now I just need to find the flogger she hates, she hid it and I haven't found it yet.

sambamanslilgirl -> RE: Bad Weather/Floods/Storms anyone? (3/21/2008 3:05:00 PM)

good luck finding that flogger.

this is the FIRST friday night i'm not venturing out to review rock bands ...keeping my ass home.

No need for luck. A quick call to pet's cell, a dire threat and voila I have it. It's good to be a dom.[:)]

Now to pick music to flog by, Flight of the Bumblebee or Bolero? [:D]

Out here we are alternating between winter weather and early spring.  Some days are showers and some are warm, the nights are staying cold though.  Last Saturday evening
it started hailing all up and down the coast!  [sm=hewah.gif]

Stay safe and warm and dry, E/everyone.

A big problem: many houses in the USA are built like straw huts - wood frames and lightweight dry walls do not a solid dwelling make.

Which explains the chains of houses carried away down stream, and the homes flying off in the wind.

Really. If I were building my own house, it would be built like a German house.

Friend of mine sent me a very cool and scary pic of the tornado that came through downtown Atlanta a few days back. Amazing.

Some of the posters that live in the flood area, might not be anywhere near a computer.
Kind of hard to log on, when your home is underwater.

Well this past week had 2 days with freezing rain, one with light snow another dense fog,  tonight calling for snow , sunday monday tues calling for  snow, thursday and friday snow and saturday rain, looking pretty typical here for the way things have been for this year, some areas here have experienced minor flooding due to heavy snowfalls and sudden warm temps along with rain, the river flood plains really are quite flooded, I won't complain about the sudden warm spells and rains we have had this winter as it has gotten rid of a lot of snow, if we had stayed cold like normal winters I would not have nowhere to shovel all the snow, the last major snowfall we had was bad enough, the snow banks where higher than the car so made getting onto the road or turning at non traffic light intersections a pain  as you could not see oncoming traffic, just had to pray no cars were coming too fast and your timing was right.  I did notice a lot of people were getting fed up with snowplows plowing snow into the end of their driveways inorder to widen the roadwau  and had taken to parking their cars right at the end of the drive way to the edge of the snowbanks  inorder to prevent the snowplow drivers from pushing the snowbanks back

As for records it was easiest to look under city of toronto --  very likely this coming week with the  snow falls expected  the alltime record for most snowfall in a season  will get broken  that was set in  the winter of  1938/39    and we are still expected to get another month or more  of  winter weather http://www.citynews.ca/news/news_20677.aspx
daily snowfalls and most snowfall records for the month of March has already been broken  because of the heavy snowfall we have had this year when all the snow and the heavy spring rain do finally come some flooding will occur in some areas  I am on high ground so not a problem for my home but could cause me some inconvenience getting to work as the road to has already flood once this year which I have not seen occur before in the 16 years  I have lived in this area

I think that would get to me. I notice the blue-ness of the sky.  Living in a rural area, I enjoy that.When I visit the city, (Chicago) I come to loathe the gray overcast dreary,  when they forcast sunshine, that can be 40 minutes that the sun peeps thru.  The raininess in itself doesnt bother me. It must be a light thing.

:-)

I guess we should count ourselves lucky. Apparently, only one person died. I shudder to think how bad it could really have been. We could have had an inch of snow.  I guess that dying really caused that person some inconvenience.
