Your national identity is more important than your local identity, because you don`t really have a local identity. For what it's worth... Northern You have a Northern accent. That could either be the Chicago/Detroit/Cleveland/Buffalo accent (easily recognizable) or the Western New England accent that news networks go for. P.S. Heya K, would you agree? [Mod Note: image removed]

But since moving to the southern states, i hear all the time "i like/love your accent" and look at them and ask "what accent" they usually reply "your California accent" i then usually giggle and say "thank you sug"

Born in Germany, I've lived on the East Coast, the West Coast, Oklahoma, and Hawaii. I'm actually worse than just neutral, because my accent is tinted with learning at one time German and speaking it fluently as a child (no more) and speaking "pidgen english" in Hawaii, and learning some Japanese and Spanish and living in Korea for a year affected it too. As for the title, two days without reasonable amounts of sleep and I miss things, "accent" of course.

Mid Atlantic. As a kid I spoke like Fran Drescher in The Nanny, a true nasal Queens accent. But with an overlay of Baltimore since my parents were both from there. The nasal Queens accent got knocked off after 6 years schooling in New England, but I guess a touch of Ballmer stuck.

I have no accent....although when I start talking faster, my New Yorker comes out a little and I tend to drop my "R's".

I'm English but morph into a American-New York accent now and again.......everywhere I go in England I can't help but blurt out, "this ain't no hot dog, it's a god-damn boiger!"......in the bank, too..... 'Never been to the US, but watched a few Cagney & Lacey episodes in my time......
