I think you could be right, the picture I have of the characters, the aeries, the layout of starside, the dead talking to Harry...would probably disapoint me, but on the plus side, Lumley does a LOT of descriptive stuff, Maybe if it was a pseudo human /cgi like Final Fantasy or Beowulf, they could make it passable, Im wanting too much arent I hehheheh

Status: offline 		I would personally like to see the book: The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks made into a movie. Not so much the sequels to them though but the original book. That or perhaps DragonDoom by Steven R. McKannen.

pandora by anne rice; the troy game series by sara douglass (this is one of those that they'd have to do a miniseries but they wouldn't because it would be too costly); mountains beyond mountains by tracy kidder; the life of god as told by himself by franco ferrucci; the life of pi by yann martel (although this one might end up with the same mistakes they made in castaway); jasmine by bharati mukherjee; it does not die by maitreyi devi (perhaps as a way to counter that awful mess made by mircea eliade and bengal nights/the bengal night); santiago by mike resnick.

Status: offline 		My ex mother in law used to read a series of books called the Wheel of Time. She was like a fanatic...I recently read some of them...and I think they would be okay...not great unless done right but okay....

Id like to see The Laruell Hamilton Fairey series done up. It seemed to be intresting.

The Swan Song By Robert McCammon...(sp) and he did a short story called something passed by that would make a hell of a movie.

Status: offline 		The Khavren Romances By Stephen Brust (Who happens to be one of us by the way, he also taught me how to play hold'em so He holds a special place in my heart)

The Pheonix Guard
500 Years After
The Viscount of Adhrilanka
     -Which is made up of three books
      *The Paths of the Dead
      * The Count of Castle Black
      * Sethra Lavode

These Books together is one of the only times in my life that as I read them I really felt I was there and knew the characters and understood why they did what they did. They were like onld friends as I read these books.

The first One. The Pheonix Guard would make an AWESOME Movie as long as it were cast correctly and if the writing was transfered from the Book to the Script it is really hard to screw it up.

Stephen is a close frinend and I would like to see him recognized for his truely amazing skill.

Also

To Reign in Hell about the Revolt in Heaven (Serious Fiction not a Preachy Religious book it was actually Banned in many Catholic Communities) Would make one of the best Angel Movies since The Prophecy. If you have never heard of it and most havent I would say it is time to him The Book Store or Amazon.com cause it is more than worth the cover price.

King.  I just KNEW they were going to blow that one big time but I was so pleasantly surprised.  It was great. 

As far as books I've read that I'd like to see films of, there are several but I'd say most anything by another of my faves, Greg Iles.  He has written many great and suspenseful novels and I'd like to see some filmmaker give them a shot, esp. "Blood Memories,"  "24 Hours," and a few others........................luci

Nope, I didn't know about the upcoming movie; I'm glad to hear it, though! Mary Steenburgen, not a good choice, I agree, and as much as I love Tommy Lee Jones, I don't know how I feel about him playing Dave....
 
I wonder who'll play Clete??

Oh, you don't know what you've been missing.  I don't read alot of fiction but I love Iles.  Start with the first ones and read from there, though.  As with Burke, Iles' latest is not - IMO - his best at all.  Everyone gets slumps, I guess.  But, with either of them, their worst is still as good as some others' best.

Brace yourself....no one is playing Clete as he's not in it.  But then, if I remember correctly, Clete wasn't in that particular book.  Seems that was the case.  Here's a link to the movie on IMDB:

I would have handpicked John Goodman to play Clete and, ironically, he's in the movie just not as Clete.  I agree about Tommy Lee but, if not him, then who?  In my mind, James Lee Burke IS Dave Robicheaux.  If he didn't play him, I guess Tommy Lee Jones is the best pick.  Definitely don't picture Mary as Bootsie but I'm not sure who I would picture as her, though.  Peter Saragaard, Levon Helm and James Gammon will be a treat as always.  So, I'll see it, I'm sure................luci

I would disagree with you on one thing, about Alafair; she had a "meaty role" in this book, IMO. But, speaking of her, the one thing I wish Burke would do is dial back the schtick between her and Dave, when he calls her "Alf".

Jones is just too old (now) to play Dave.....; who else........ Keanu Reeves? Ben Affleck? No..... ...... would Russell Crowe work?
 
Goodman as Clete, maybe. You know who I picture him as when I read? That guy that was on Survivor, Rupert!
