I am not sure if they always mean the punishment it self..or the correction and guidance in life...in general.
IF punishment (for correction) starts to be enjoyable...then you should change it.
Else...just enjoy

Punishment and Play are two differant things, punishments are NOT enjoyable, if you are a masochist then a punishment shouldnt involve pain because ummm they get off on pain. Unfortunalty people often use the word wrong.

I don't "punish."

If my partner does something I dislike, I inform her of that.  If the behavior is repeated, I reconsider the relationship.  After all, she exists to please me.  If she does not wish to do that, I have little use of her services.

I have to disagree with this to a degree. Though I agree that punishments are Not enjoyable I am a masochist and I had a session not to long ago where I did recieve a punishment. This punishment was all pain. I did not get off on it in the least. I was paddled very hard and was not permitted to fully go into sub space where I can tranform that pain into pure pleasure. The paddling was not pleasureable and I very much learned my lesson.
So even though I am a masochist there is some pain that can be used to apply the punishment even if it is normally something that I enjoy.

This is a huge misconception.  If my Master is angry at me, he can put a feather on me and it would hurt.  Intention behind an act is what greatly affects the reaction to the act.

Not all of use or enjoy a punishment dynamic. I don't even like it in play. I don't like the idea that I'm doing something that disappoints him or would make him angry.

I agree with 100 % with the wacky one.  The only thing Master has to do is tell me that whatever he is doing is for punishment and it everythimg becomes unbearable and heart breaking for me.
