pahunkboy -> Trampoline party! ? help ? (3/23/2008 6:22:15 AM)

The renter next door put up a brand new trampoline.     Needless to say-  every knucklehead with in a 5 block radius now tramples thru my yard,  where it is hard to grow grass.  Fence is only one one side- fences had been climbed on the other side.

It has a net up- sorta like a fence.

Ok- so now the crowd is seeping into my carport near my vehicles....  and at 11pm the party was in full swing.

Do I call the landlord?

What do I do?

Someone is going to get hurt.  Aside from that,,,,,,  well imagine carnival all summer,

Set up an ice cream stand and sell ice cream??

Yes.

All things pass, phb. Might as well enjoy it as long as it lasts.

Or hire one of the kids to keep the others away. (Will cost you money and goodwill; selling ice cream will earn you money and goodwill.)

...I was thinking..   3 jumpers live there.  but 1 is ...more interested in other persuits.  this means then 2.   maybe to say something like each 1 friend over.

I did phone the owner. He cut me off as today is Easter. He heard the main 3 words, fence, trampoline, place.   He promised tophone me back tho not today.  In a way I am sorry I called on the holiday.   I had told him long ago- I would let him know if any tenants were damaging his place that I knew of.  [he lives 16  miles away]

I looked up city codes. found nothing. Like with a pool, one must have a fence.  Certainly there are liablilty issues. When I bought my home owner insurance - trampoline was one of the questions.   So the tenant- or the owner or WHOM is liable???
I might add the tenant is a nice lady.   I dont however know why her last place caught fire.

Selling ice cream, I wont...tho- if i have extra cookies or cake- ild share.

And it will be torcher if I must look at greased up hot perky boobed blonde college girls, who were skimpily dressed and wrestling with baby sun tan oil.  all jumping and smiling and winking-   with legs as smooth as silk.

pure torcher i tell ya!

[lol]

Consider yourself lucky you have anyone you can call at all.

Big problems with the renters here from time to time. The only contact I had was the agent managing the properties - they dont want to know. I searched the Land Registry to find out who owns the properties - cost me money, but what choice? I wrote to them - they referred me to the agents (who dont want to know). After that there is the benefits agency which pays their rents who "cant disclose confidential information" such as whether they pay the rents - which they do, since none of them go to work.

After that its the cops or the environmental health department - which of course comes back on me far more than a quiet word from any of the above three, since I have to live with these people.

Lady E..

precisely.  I spoke to the owner way before this- as he tried to buy this place  -competing with me.  [to tear it donw for parking]

PA is a funny state is so far as lease law goes.  Certain things must explicitly be spelled out- such as a landlords right to enter premises. No lease forms I ever seen provide for a trampline.   Tho a buddy who owns property uses her own made up from to protect her, as tenanst can be destructive.

The owner is a long time prison guard.  His frame of reference is the world is going to heck in a handbacket.  Yet- he also has a roving eye- and thinks a lady can do NO wrong.  [unless it is a masculine lesbian, then he gets all rooster like] [the prior owner "turned" into a lesbien, and i get told about it often.   [when my junk pile was complained on to code- i told him there was lesbien pussy juice in the rug, lol]  [he reported the realitor to code over my replacent of toilet and disk...i could not order a dumpter as i hadnt closed.   man i was fit to be tied when the code guy wrote me up, 1 when id di not even close yet- then 2 less then 30 days later.]

but being i hang with the queen of the block- i can slide on some things.

lets face it- code can come down on 95% of the dwellings.

Have you considered a comando raid, late at night, of course, Silent as a ninja with, say, a sharp gurka knife clenched  in your teeth ? But wemember, you must be vewy , vewy quiet.Take the blade to the ropes supporting the tramp. That will take the bounce right out of the sucker. Then, perhaps, as a nice touch, red graffiti on a prominent wall with something like " death to jumping pigs". Could be quite satisfying .Er...just a thought.

Why are you so worried about liability issues for a trampoline that is not on your property?  I can understand your concern if they are using your driveway.  But the trampoline is not on your property, therefore it's not your issue.  You called the landlord, it's his problem.  If people are uninvited on your property, call the police if they are creating liability issues that concern you.  Just remember that these are your neighbors and they can make your life hell if they want to, in other words, choose your battles.

precisely.

We will see how it goes.  As to calling the police- --no.  Our police are busy breaking up fights.  I dont want to call them, unless it is urgently, a threat.

With the jumping- ok- a tree on the next property spans over mine. So weare climbing the tree now. falling -- ...never the less- i likely could argue , any liabilyt.

although- I see your point. I will document that I spoke to the owner of the property.  So that- should any thing occurred- I infromed him.

if i put up a 6 foot wood fence- then that yard gets NO light. a 3-4 chain link gets climbed.  a 6 feet or higher chain link then looks liek a prison.  then with that- is one fencing others out- or one in?

DesFIP -> RE: Trampoline party! ? help ? (3/23/2008 8:38:08 AM)

Plant shrubs, ones with thorns as a fence. Seriously, shrub roses will improve the property, if the tenants and friends destroy them, then they will need to replace them or give you the money to do so. And one time pushing through the thorns in shorts will end any trespassing.

I actually do use that on the one side. :-)

It occurred to me, to snap pics of now- like when a bicycle is dangling from a tree. lol

Can you put up a spotlight or floodlight that shines on your property? Not many kids want to hang out and party under a spotlight.

pahunkboy -> RE: Trampoline party! ? help ? (3/23/2008 3:15:27 PM)

Today has been going well.  Just maybe the first day was a big deal.

tho- if the owner wants to split cost of a fence. ild consider it.

wow- i was out pruing plants and such i love spring!!!!

Buy one of those sirens only kids can hear.  Of course they won't go near the trampoline next door anymore either.  All depends on how far away the yard is from where you are.

I'd talk to the neighbor, nicely ask her to ask the kids not to trample through your yard.  You are trying to grow...etc.  They are trampling it to death.
Most people would understand.

Vendaval -> RE: Trampoline party! ? help ? (3/25/2008 1:21:03 PM)

Tie trespassers to the trampoline springs with rough hemp rope, if they still struggle add velcro.  [sm=crop.gif]

Look at the bright side, Hunk. When we come and have a really loud, really kinky party in your yard, they can't complain.[;)]

We have had quality tampolines for over 30 years at two different homes.  Hubby was a diver and our daughters were gymnasts and divers and we all knew how to use them safely.  We did always carry extra liabitlity insurance.  Suddenly two years ago our insurance company said they wouldn't continue to insure us unless we get rid of the trampoline, even though it was inside a locked fence.  This tramp had been a gift to our daughter and she was devastated.  The irony of it is that we ended up selling it to a home inspector.

You might ask your neightbor if she has checked with her insurance co.

Our safety rules included the following:

One person at a time on the tamp
No bouncing after any drinking
No upside down tricks without spotters
No bouncing when home alone
No children outside the family uses it without their parents written permission.

faerytattoodgirl -> RE: Trampoline party! ? help ? (3/25/2008 5:17:08 PM)

no bouncing if braless.. since it will cause sexual contact.
