And then yoiu have those occasional bastards who just wander into your life-whack off the top and pop out the core as pretty as you please.

And go "See there it is-why did you ever need all of that other junk?"

Leaving you to wonder exactly the same thing. [;)]

chew gum while peeling onions and you wont get tears in your eyes. It taste better when you leave it on the bed post over night.

interesting...not sure how that actually helps.

I was taught to light a candle as the smoke from the candle attracts/absorbs the oils in the air rather then getting it in your eyes.

Bita said :    {What if your true self is a real ass? What if your true self is an abuser or robot or a doormat or a monster? Being true to yourself isn't, necessarily, a good thing. }

{When you peel back everything which society, family, the media, teachers, friends, clergy, siblings and we, ourselves heap on to the ground floor of our own natures there could be all sorts of core characteristics to an individual, including being a sinner, a saint, an ass, a genius etc.}}

hmmm, interesting..

I tend to think the opposite.  It's been my belief that the "society, family, the media, teachers, friends, clergy, siblings and we, ourselves "   are what is generally responsible for nurturing, altering and effecting, sometimes causing us to abandon our genuine selves.  I don't think anyone is, at their core-being, an ass...a sinner(whatever that is ) ..a bully...a killer...a robot emotionally...a doormat..a victim...an abuser or a monster.
Those actions or characteristics come about through "cause and effect" ...our life experiences that imprint.

  Although I do adhere to a 12 step program and its philosophy for my own addiction issues, I do not beleive that I was born an addict. Minute 2 of my life began my journey down that path perhaps LOL but in that first moment of life> the  pages of my book of life were still pristeen with innocence and positively healthy possiblities..

As I said in my previous comment, I don't yet know what all is at my core-being...... Even though through my life I have struggled with addictive behaviors and sometimes it has been very difficult to tell the truth and I have lied... there have been situations in my life where to survive I have chosen silence, passive-aggressive thinking and denial>>> And even tho' those are behaviors and choices I made>I don't think my genuine self is an addict, a liar or a doormat.

I can say this because as my "layers" have peeled away THOSE things have been replaced by choices and behaviors that I feel are closer to feeling genuine and true to myself as I live them.

That all made sense in my head LOL I hope it made sense to read.

Great topic...and I love reading all the responses...Love Love Love  " thinking threads "  ..
and Thank you, Mia, for your kind remark.. : )

As blunt as CrappyDom....

Too funny. Just a couple of months ago, I had started reading this BDSM book in the book store and decided to not buy. Don't remember the name, but it seemed very fluffy and not at all appliable. I off handedly said..."SM can write three times as better and give better advice. He should write his own book even with his way too blunt ways." LOL

I have to say i learned from Collarme, and other stuff here and there. The only place i have learned about relationship part of this is here, and am glad i did. (Note: the message boards, not the chat rooms.)
