Not bad, NeedToUse.

I'm not sure that the cost of bandwidth will continue to go down, although if you have some figures for that, I'd believe you.

I currently watch most of my video via the internet as well, although I tend to download and store them.  Just this weekend, I downloaded the entire Babylon 5 series - all five seasons - and am looking for the movies.

I've currently got about 5 terabytes of HD storage, most of it full of songs, audio books, ebooks, movies and TV shows (how about the entire 11 seasons of MASH?, all of Stargate SG1?  Every episode of STTNG? Everyone Loves Raymond?).  I also have the complete Ken Burns "The War" series.  Eventually I'll watch it all.  His "Civil War" is in my download que.  I've download the entire HBO's "The Wire" series for one of my sons, and the entire "The Tudors" for a friend.

I plan on buying more HD space, the next time Bestbuy runs another special.

When will I ever have the time to actually sit down and watch broadcast TV?

Dunno.  Don't care.

Firm

I don't have hard numbers but it's pretty evident, seeing I mess around on the web quite often, and the cost for hosting has plummeted over past 5 years. You can get 10Megabits of unlimited hosting, and a dedicated server with windows server enterprise for about 150.00 at calpop.com. The increase in home connectivity is just increasing but the rates I've paid are about the same as they were 5 years ago. It's one of those self-evident things. If hosting costs are decreasing / megabit, and home connection costs are decreasing / megabit, then it follows they aren't running themselves into the red. So, the only variable there is bandwidth cost. t1 lines are way cheaper than they used to be, they used to run thousands now it's hundreds. I understand with t1's alot of that is for the line itself, but it's across the board. I've been looking at hosting prices and generally aware about this stuff since 1999 when I first got a web hosting account.

Back then they used to measure in the  100's of megabytes, LOL, for bandwidth use, now it's 100's of gigabytes. If you must have proof I can look it up, but it's sorta like proving that night is dark.
