ORIGINAL: Aneirin If one looks at succsessful people and how they got rich, there may be seen a lot of 'flying under the radar' activities going on, avoiding taxes and shrewd investments etc. So it may be said that honest people who play the game, pay their taxes and do everything by the book won't get rich. I think basically the key to success is be dishonest, Something I dislike. I normally enjoy your posts. However you hit upon things that actually piss me off.Not every person that turns their life into wealth does it by being dishonest. Some, yes. Not all though. How are 'shrewd investments' dishonest?? My father pays more in taxes than I will ever earn in a lifetime and he has one of the strongest moral codes of anyone I have ever met.He also has donated/given away & helped financially more than I would see in several lifetimes. Please don't generalize and say all those that become wealthy are dishonest & avoid taxes. Like all generalisations there are grains of truth that apply to some but not all. You are of course quite correct, it is why I said....' there may be seen '....which implies some, but not all. There are a lot of businessmen who now appear squeaky clean on the surface, but are engaged in all sorts of skuldugery in the name of business and there are those who are clean but have a dishonourable past, it takes all sorts in the business world, as business is business. I plan to start my own business very soon, and though it is not something I see as getting rich by, I would hope it to provide a fair income for myself and my family. But of course if things take off, who knows where it will go. What I have planned for the main constituent for my business is something which appears lacking in my country, customer service.I hope to provide a service for a customer second to none where the customer is not just an income, but a person worthy of my undivided attention whilst I am in their employ. I learned years ago, there is nothing more important than customer service to attract custom, I whilst working for another used to repair garden machinery, I diagnosed within a couple of days where my employer said within a week, and repaired within a week where my employer said two weeks. Not only did they get the repair they had paid for done, but the machine was serviced and cleaned, other repairs were done if they could be done without further cost. Of course my employer was not for the extra service at first, but he soon came around to my way of thinking when I increased the repair business from a few hundred pounds a month to on average three thousand pounds per month, all done by customer service, good word spreads, I was honest with my customers and they appreciated the honesty. So, my idea for business, and I am at college now to add skills to what I already have.
