The melting pot analogy works better because once a dish is all melted together, you can't separate it. Salads are very easy to separate (segregate).

The interesting thing with analogies is that once you understand their meaning, you can move on from them and extrapolate to bigger and grander things.

We can embark on a discussion on literary techniques if you like, but it's an entirely different subject matter.

You can only move on and extrapolate if the original analogy makes sense. In this case, it dosen't. You thought it did, but I didn't. Therefore there is no moving on an extrapolation because we do not agree on a fundamentally basic level. To you, salad works better, to me it represents segregation.

To me, segregation is an isolated German sausage with a few bits of sauerkraut on the side .

And that's why you'll never understand. That word isn't some cutesy word for food here. It's a racially charged word that has led to protest, violence and more. And you're analogy reeks of it.

Segregation:
  1. The act or process of segregating or the condition of being segregated.
  2. The policy or practice of separating people of different races, classes, or ethnic groups, as in schools, housing, and public or commercial facilities, especially as a form of discrimination.

That should be obvious by now, in the 12th and 13th page of posts in two threads on the same subject where I repeatedly talk about people's refusal to join and be part of a society.

Domahpet how  about we and all the other subs throw a feminist societal party once a weeks and invite  Smith  to join us for the next 5 years   so we can ignore him , shun him  play sex games but not include him to participate, call him names, beat him up and kick him around like a dog  every so often if he complains about our way of doing things

........we can   have a lottery to see how how long he will continue to join us and be part of the society everyone can chip in a $ the winner is the one one picks closest to the date he decides no longer to remain part of our society  .......anyone else thinks this is a good idea?????? would teach him what it is like to be a foriegner

I never said you were asking other people. I said MY OWN thoughts should be fairly obvious by now due to the posts I have made on two threads now totalling 13 pages each.

This was completely off topic and made zero sense whatsoever. I'd probably never show up to a 'feminist party' to begin with, so the rest is irrelevant.

And kicking around like a dog? I assume you're implying we do that to the illegals.......you know those? They're the ones that sneak in against our LAWS. They're the ones that get free government aid......they're the  ones that can go to a hospital for free, while I am charged thousands for a cold. They're the ones whose children are making it so that others' children have to learn spanish in grade school just to accomodate them. They're the ones who have an entire day of court proceeding STOPPED until a translator can be found to help them understand. They're the ones who have thousands of allies crying about how they're being mistreated when they.........WEREN'T EVEN INVITED HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE. And they are the ones who get all of this while not paying one red cent into the government programs they benefit from every single day. Hell, I recently read a story on cnn talking about how colleges are offering SCHOLARSHIPS to illegal immigrants. Yet if I went to the same school, since I'm "legal," I have to pay through the nose.

Kicked around? Yeah right. If you think demanding they speak english is that horrendous, I suggest that it's a small trade off for all of the benefits they get in return.

Perhaps decades ago, the 'invitation' thing may have been true. But it's long since over. And pointing to the way it was 'in the past' is no reason or agument about the way it is now.

Alright, I can spoon feed it to you just this once.

I am against segregation. And I think that what the illegals do and their refusale to learn english is a voluntary self-segregation. They come here for a "better life" supposedly yet they willingly keep themselves from it. When you go to a place, you don't demand that people in that place conform to you upon your arrival. You conform to them. It's that simple.

When I was growing up, I heard stories of other countries where if you walked into a bar and tried to order a drink, you'd not even be looked at unless you spoke their language. Yet here, a restaurant can put up a sign that says "english only" and they are decried for being racist. If any race can learn to speak english, how is asking customers to speak in the language that your business can understand racist?

why try to fit in there'.

That's because one who supports this main point, as I do, is often called a racist or a heartless, uncaring person. People often don't see the point. They see the emotion they want to infuse it with.

How interesting. I don't bash anyone who disagrees with me. I will freely admit I let myself go down immature lane on occasion, but I never attack first. I will attack ideals, I will attack ridiculous nototions, but I don't attack the speaker unless I am attacked first.

As for the rest of what you said, I call that the fine art on conversation. A person's inability to receive the answer they are seeking is not the fault of the person to whom they are speaking. If a person is not getting the answer they think they should, it's incumbent upon them to alter their line of questioning.

In this thread and in the other one  that is similar, I have repeated stated the following points:
- I am all for immigration, if it is done so LEGALLY.
- I am for everyone getting together and melting as a society, but in order to do that, those 'not from here' should do more to fit in and be a       part of this country. You can't walk into someone else's house and tell them how to do things, you are supposed to do things their way.
- I am for enforcing the laws on illegal immigration without exception. Once a person is aware they are here legally, if they were not the         ones who actively 'snuck in' then they should seek out the assistance to become legal immediately, or they should go home.
- I agree that in some countries 'legally' immigrating to the US is not easy, but that's not my problem. That is a problem in that country's         system and as the America haters LOVE to point out, the US should not be sticking its nose into other countries' affairs. They will run         their legal immigration channels the way they see fit. If someone isn't happy about that, the place to start complaining about it is not here,     when you're here illegally.

I make no apologies for my views, as they are my own and I stand by them. I also know that I am not racist or bigoted. I can go into great detail about how I know, but there's no need. There are some here who wouldn't believe it anyway. I will cop to being a little prejudiced in certain situations. Because do otherwise is an outright lie, no matter who you're talking to. We all are a bit prejudiced. I'm just honest about mine.
