I can't help it. I notice words, and I notice how people use words to justify and explain their point of view.

I like to think about the philosophy of things, and how people perceive the world around them. One of the most interesting things to me is how perception changes, depending on what side of an issue you are coming from.

I just witnessed a perfect, true example of that on a PBS show about 30 minutes ago. It was a discussion about the Democratic Party squabbles, and how there are a large percentage of Democratic voters who say (in a poll) that if "their" candidate doesn't win the nomination, then they will vote for McCain, or simply not vote at all.

A question was asked about the number of Democratic voters who said that they would never vote for Obama under any circumstances, and why that was ....

The (Democratic) talking head's response:

"There are a large number of blue collar democratic voters whose cultural attitudes and beliefs prevent them from voting for him. They have a belief that inter-racial dating isn't good and that immigrants are causing a lot of problems."

I stood there dumbfounded for a minute, and then almost had a giggling fit.

If he had been asked the same question about why a group of Republican voters won't vote for Obama under any circumstances ... how do you think he would have phrased it?

You mean, there are bigots that aren't in the Republican party? Who'da thunk it......

The GOP has it good right now since they can already rally round a single candidate. He gets time to work out stratagy against both possible DEM candidates. And they are providing him with all the ammo he needs.

The primarys are too spread out now. It would be better if all of them happened in a 3 month period, Jan through March. Then we would not have from March to May full of bickering and infighting.

I'm voting for the DEM candidate reguardless though I'd prefer Obama.

Is there something wrong with saying the truth?... It would all depend on who said it first... otherwise the Republican would think the same thing but because a democrat said it first they would of course be appalled.

Nope. Not much wrong with stating an opinion, either, but one should always be prepared to catch flack, depending on what it is.

Ridiculous thinking no matter which side it's coming from, Firm. (I am a conservative Republican with very liberal views about most things)

I'm more concerned about his personal views and his experience personally; and actually might have voted for him had certain things not come up recently. (not wanting to make this a political debate, just giving info so you know where this answer is coming from.)
