dea2008 -> What practise is risky during the session ? (3/28/2008 3:05:18 PM)

Hello to every body !!!

I mean if I want to be secure of not being infected by some virus or infection  , what practice during the session is  risky practice ?

Obviously any practice that holds the possibility of transference of bodily fluids can be risky

You really want to be secure? Have your partner tested-and not have sex with anyone until the results come back clean.

You can be infected fifteen minutes after the blood is drawn. Self control and being choosy is the only real std preventative.

Breathing, especially the inhaling part.

However, as long as you use a safe word you are invincible!

What is the most secure practice during the session ?
What are the names of the subjects which can be in use without the risk of being damaged ?
For example , after the slapping , or after the whip , or after the spitting  how can I secure my self  from not getting any infection or illness ?

avoid any exchange of body fluids. use condoms on all insertables, including the flesh and blood ones.  get your own toys (paddles, floggers etc) and insist that they be used (and take them home with you when you're done) Make it clear that they are not to be used on anyone else.

The only way to ensure you are absolutely risk free from infection is to play without chance of skin breaking, blood, semen or saliva transfer and any airborne contagions. If you are not going to play in a bubble with the dominant in a separate bubble of their own, there are no gaurantees. You can be careful, as long as you realize that taking care doesnt mean you dont have to still be tested.

Not to be a doomsayer, but if one is tested for all possible infections, that person would probably be dead from loss of blood (10ccs at a time) before the potential pool is exhausted.

OK, that's an overstatement but just look at a list I can come up with from off of my head

AIDS
Genital Herpies
HPV
Syphilis
PID
Chlamydia
LGV
Bacterial Vaginosis
Trichomoniasis

Not to mention the various forms of Viral Hepatitis which are not really STDs

As for duration of risk from shed blood, that largely depends on the conditions.  Thinking it is safe after a few minutes is an extemely risky path.  Some viruii can remain infectious for months.

I've found that the best path for me is to assume that all partners are infectious and proceed from that.  It is possible to do very sensual play while remaining alert to fluid transfer.

Have your own toys and only have them used on you. Clean them yourself between sessions. Wipe down any surfaces that others have been on before using the equipment. No exchange of bodily fluids. Condoms and dental dams lessen the risk but do not entirely stop them. Don't kiss anybody who's sick. Wash your hands frequently.

... and then when you've tested, condomed, monogomied, ... there's a lightening strike and your dead!

There are no guarantees, take precautions, use your judgement, if you are doubtful don't.  It's like doing anything, taking an umbrella in case it rains, is good, but you can't prepare for every contingency.

i consider a risky practice if the D calls for electric play and the sub sticks his fingers in a power point or a knife play and the sub is set on the wall with the knives flying, swishing past him as a target practice... (Excited anybody???)
