Most of the junk I still have came from getting things after she passed away that I have no use for and am paying through the nose for a storage unit that is enormous.

I'm thinking of acquiring some big, burly male subs and slaves this spring to help me go through and trash most of this stuff.

Hmm.... what kind of stuff are we talking about?

No, bad dave! Bad dave! Nevermind.

Ive done the same thing. If you want something better than Craigslist, join (3w) freecycle.org for your area. Its a GREAT way to keep things out of landfills & give it a 2nd life when its gently used still.
I got 2 dozen cinder blocks that i loaded AND unloaded (for free) because i figured they would be usefull in my garden ....in a year or next? Not my brightest moment on knowing where my limits were on hauling them from behind someones garage out to my truck. I didnt think ahead to bring a wagon or dolly.
I post things there that i dont wanna move from the basement to the curb & yes its amazing what people will take cuz its free.
Freecycle rocks though, been on it for almost 5 years now.....given away much more than i got.

Freakin' Craigslist is going to be the death of me, i swear...

i acquired three 3' x 3' x 6" concrete slabs.

i just spent two and a half hours moving one of them from the back of my truck, down the side of the house, around to the back, and down underneath the deck. There are still two more in the back of the truck.

All so i can have a solid spot to park my riding mower, which currently doesn't run (it, sadly, was not free)

Do i need to mention that concrete slabs of that size weigh about 600 lbs? Big fun.

So, i don't really expect anyone to come up with something quite that stupid, but surely i can't be the only one seduced past the point of reason by free stuff?

LOL, dave!!!

ps - does bad free advice count?  There's been a lot of that in my life.  Most of it, now though, I just turn it down.

lmao........Free pets that are past the cute fuzzie wubbie age are usually someone elses problem that they are passing on to you.

lol sure hes housebroke
he wont eat the cat (unless he can catch them)

Those times here i refer to as the The unfortuante Chiwauah Incident ("Chiwawa mean shaky poopy dog" in Spanish.)

Chiwawa, Chihuhua, Chihauhua??? Google it , it comes up under any spelling like "dyslexia dsylexia" does

The pretty parrot that would take your finger off (& maybe thats why they didnt want him around THEIR kids?)

I have given away finches that bred too much and cockatiels that needed more attention than i was able to give them.

But we did get an older dog last summer free from a family moving out of state that is a dream. I kept worrying they were gonna ask for him back. After seeing all the problem dogs & deceitful people out there.

Dumb, no. Free yes. And if I decided later that it was useless, I got rid of it.

No, but i have tried to get one out of an attic with no flooring (just bare rafters) and HVAC ducting everywhere... BAD kitty Worst part was that she kept squeaking pitifully at me while working her way to the very back corner of the attic...

i recommend saving a large cardboard box, flatten it out, and bring that up into the loft with you... then lay that over the top of the ladder while you're up there. If they're really persistent they can probably move it, but at least you'll have some warning.

And, yeah, i'll take a couple chairs... my garage chair (rescued from the side of the road on trash day) is falling apart
