5 of these options are not one hitters- Nena in fact had a second big hit in europe but I guess she counts as a one hitter here in the states

It was tough not to vote for David Essex (that kick drum!), but I had to go for Brownsville Station. It just rocks and as an adolescent it had to do until the punk rock thing that dominated my teens. I actually won the Terry Jacks album in a radio phone-in contest. Terry Jacks was in a band called The Poppy Family with his wife Susan Jacks.
