The truth is, I believe both parts, the sublime and the mundane are of equal importance. Most people I know are short tempered when hungry or overtired, and no matter how much meditation you do, if you still don't eat or sleep you will suffer. I think that's a very Christian belief, that you can ignore the physicality of our existence, and that is of less importance. But in practice it just doesn't work. Besides I don't like the idea of being schizophrenic, of being split in two. I much prefer being integrated. A person who can feel fulfilled one way by an inspiring sermon and another way by having wine, fruit and cookies after the service in the company of friends. The one does not negate the other.
