Now why would you need a mini lathe for whip making?

It's always better if you actually produce.

Looking forward to getting my mini lathe this coming month. High time I started making whips again.

For precision turning the handles and counterweights for floggers. I'm not the kind that just drills a hole in the end of a handle and glues in fishing weights. Balance and throw is very important.

And for making custom metal butt caps. For producing tooling to cut and skive lace. I have about a year and a half of professional training in machining-skills I intend to make pay in the leather business. I can produce and provide options other makers cannot-that's how you get a competitve edge.

Innovation.

I totally understand competitive edge.
I asked the question because I my self have a 7x10 mini lathe.
If you would like to see some uniquely tooled flogger handles check out "Chicago Tool Works"
Click on the link below to go to their web page.

The biggest issue in manufacturing is turning out stuff fast enough-but keeping the quality up.

Thank god for cnc mills and lathes.

And I felt the need to add....I'm also looking at investment casting. Especially in trees. I like the idea of having buckles and fittings that only my shop can produce.

Am I strange in that I would love to find a beautiful flogger/cat such as the ones mentioned previously, but I would prefer synthetic materials??  Yeah, I know, I will totally eat anything with a face, I own leather shoes and purses (after all, cow is mighty tasty) but I don't exactly relish the thought of a playtoy that is made from kangaroos.  Or bison.  Any thoughts?

I make all sorts of toys from nylon, hemp, rubber, and other types of rope. Although, I also have roo, deer, elk, bison, and cow floggers as well. I must say though that some of my favorite floggers are rope. And although it is not my choice, at least I respect those who choose to play without dead animal items.
