petitespitfire64 -> Sex after prostate surgery... (3/30/2008 11:20:01 PM)

A Dominant male friend just has his prostate removed because it was cancerous. The nerve bundles were preserved.
I don't want to ask him about his sexual function right now... so...can any of you relate any experience you might have with sex after prostate removal? Do you still have relatively normal erections? Do you ejaculate? Are your orgasms as good as they were prior to surgery?
I've done a bit of net research on the subject, but want to hear this from real live people.
Thanks bunches!

I'm not sure about after removal, but I do know that even with some prostate problems/medications, it can cause changes.  For instance, I know one man who was still able to orgasm but no semen came out.  It was somehow redirected into his bladder instead.  He said everything still felt just as intense, there was just no mess[:)].  No problems with arousal, erections, or anything like that though................luci

Boy..isn't it GREAT that NO dominants on the site EVER had any prostate issues? Guess none of them have any balls either. *eye roll*

I'm 27 and my Prostate is still in tact I wish I could help but I cannot relate to the issue.

I would say you may want to find a Prostate Removal Support Board and look for a Wives supposrt section and ask this question there I feel you will get an answer faster and there are MANY Prostate removal Support Boards.

Okay, I'm a "real live people".  I know several people who went thru it. But I'm not really sure what their experiences have to do with your friend's experience. You're not going to find any more here than you probably have already found elsewhere on the net.

The nerve bundles were preserved. Doesn't mean they are going to function correctly immediately; they may or may not resume functioning at some point in time.

relate any experience you might have with sex after prostate removal? For some people it works the same as before; for some people it never works correctly again and for still others it is a gray area in the middle.

Do you still have relatively normal erections? As above, for some yes, for some no, for some it would be closer to a semi-erection.

Do you ejaculate?  For some yes, for some no.

Are your orgasms as good as they were prior to surgery? For some yes, for some no, for some they are just different than before.

ThundersCry -> RE: Sex after prostate surgery... (3/31/2008 3:56:56 PM)

I have known two men well that have had their prostates removed...

Both, used different ways to achieve *hard ons* afterwards...one used a pecker pump...one used injections...The one using the injections has made more than one trip to the emergency room because his woody would not go away...YiKeS! What most men dream of apparently becomes a nightmare at some point!

I was always curious myself what happened afterwards...I MAY know them very well <one being an older brother> however...I never had the guts to ask them if they could achieve orgasm. My thinking was no, because thats where the semen is produced...Its a guy deal...so personal.

I have kinda watched all day for responses as well =L=

Both said and stated it took a very understanding partner afterwards...

Hopefully some here, have SOME kind of information, if NOT...I will ask a doc next time I see one <grins>

Good question...thx

spitfire,

consider the odds of replies to this one prior to getting sarcastig.

1st, the number of "D"s that contribute mto the boards on a ratio is about 20% of the total
then filter out the age brakets that would rarely be subjected to prostrate removal.
now the potential for experiential replies is in the dumpster.

If it ever happens to me I will send yo a recap but I work hard keeping it healthy.

Yanno the times when ya think "too much information"?  Well that happened many years ago when my father has his prostate removed.  My mother was telling me that it was actually an 'improvement' from her view of things because everything worked as it did before except there wasn't any wet spot to sleep in....
Now here's an opportunity to relate that information to another.

As many have said, it's going to vary from individual to individual.

angelbluewingsz -> RE: Sex after prostate surgery... (4/2/2008 4:28:49 PM)

When dating an man who had been through this prior to me meeting him I can't say what it was like before but he did have some problems getting and then maintaining an erection. I can't say if it was because he was 67 or if it was the surgery though . i do believe that everyone is different though no two experiences the same.

BOUNTYHUNTER -> RE: Sex after prostate surgery... (4/2/2008 4:45:09 PM)

I will be 61 in August and still have an erection when needed smiles,A friend my age has had the surgery and tells me at times it the same old pecker and at times it fails to snap to attention..Another neighbor of mine, a young 50 had the same surgery and reports that it doesn't work maybe on a rare occasions....I am of the age to give us sex to save my life hell yeah,I would have it in a heart beat ,what sane person wouldn't...I know if we ever came to this bridge Diane would be the same warm loving partner as always and expect most spouses would as well...

kiwisub12 -> RE: Sex after prostate surgery... (4/2/2008 4:51:33 PM)

work in a urology surgery  - asked one of the doctors this question , and he said ....   it depends.   You can't tell until everything heals up.   and males can orgasm without ejaculating. Apparently, these are two seperate physiological functions.  He explained it to me , but i wasn't llistening too well, and the anatomy was a bit over my head.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Sex after prostate surgery... (4/2/2008 4:54:13 PM)

I forgot to say - if the male is impotent, and wishes, there is a penile prosthesis that allows him to dictate his own erections. Just like if there is urinary incontinence after prostate surgery there is a prosthesis that can fix that.  I have seen some men with incontinence worse than any womans.  Think they wait until it is absolutely unbearable before they do anything about it.

Areflectionofyou -> RE: Sex after prostate surgery... (4/3/2008 3:52:47 AM)

after removal a man becomes impotent

MissSCD -> RE: Sex after prostate surgery... (4/3/2008 4:00:51 AM)

This is a question that only his dr can answer.  It could be like a woman having a hystrectomy.   I had mine last year, and could care less about having sexual intercourse.   I am much happier.   Any surgery like that causes your hormones to decline.  My dr, said I could within a couple of weeks of surgery.

Ok, I seem to be the oldest one around , am 70 and am a cancer prostate survivor. I had radiation treatment, 42 of them, was interesting, in answer to your question, have talked to many men who have the surgery, some can function afterwards, have erections, however do not ejaculate since there is no fluid produced, in my case am a fully functional male, I have good erections except I produce about a third of what I did before radiation, also I had vasectomy many years ago, so my fluid is clear. Back to erection question, it is a yes and no thing, Mental state comes in to play too, each individual is different. BTW my sub is 32 and very happy.[;)]

But just like with men the results vary , for some women sex can become even more enjoyable after a hysterectomy, and less hormones do not necessarily equal less desire.  Results vary from person to person and mental attitude also plays a strong roles in women as well.  Once problems where discovered I was to abstain   until after recovery from surgery  had a 3 month wait prior and 2 months recovery before finally given the okay....  lets say I came charging out of the starting  gate wanting to make up for lost time  [:)]

Most men as they grow older have a decrees in  fluid.I have noticed over the last few years the amount I ejaculate has decressed..With the penis implant that allows you to pump to achieve an erection is great in my book and if the need ever arose around here that would be the route I would take...

With respect to your friend, you won't get any answers here that apply to him.
