You said ~~>I am currently under a collar of consideration .....

If you are in a growing relationship toward something totally committed... where as you and yours symbolize this committment with a collar,  why advertise it in such a way?

It's like bragging ...we're going out and he might just want to marry me some day....see his college ring with pretty pink angora?

But to each couple their own.... that is just not our way and my own opinion on the matter cuz he wouldn't bother with an opinion on such as this.

OK, a bit more positive...   "Moving toward a collar of committment"  might be original.

just wanted to add that this issue is so totally confusing for new people. i am very, very new to the bdsm scene. i am currently being trained by a Master, and i absolutely love to be referred to as His slave. but apparently that creates confusion for bdsm people, who think that means that i am collared, and then go on to say how we are taking things way too fast. i mean, Master and i understand exactly where our relationship is at, we are actually taking things quite slowly in my opinion - but the terminology is just incredibly confusing for a newbie!!!

Goddess2002 -> RE: "so, are you collared yet?" (4/6/2008 3:56:33 AM)

Yes, it does create confusion...My slave is not yet collared but I have referred to him as "slave" and he has loved it since early on. I did this purposefully so he would have a clear understanding of my expectations. He will remain under My consideration for a collar, though, until the end of the year, when I will decide if he's earned it. When people hear the word "slave" though, they automatically tend to think he's already collared.

My idea of the collar, which may differ from others, is that it is the equivalent of a wedding ring in terms of symbolizing long-term committment. I will never legally marry again (been there, done that), but the idea of having a slave collared for life is extremely appealing to Me. [;)]

Men on ego trips don't respect much. Especially desperate men with a fantastical sense of thier own entitlement. It's really quite sad-pity them.

NEVER pity one like this.  It's all themselves and what they can get or think they are entitled too. Nothing to pity...just  go as far from them as possible.
Experience is a wonderful teacher.

If 'under collar of consideration' works for you and your relationship, I'd say simply 'ohh screw' to those who have a problem it it.
It's so true that too many see things as either black or white.    You understand your meaning behind it and if it were me, I would not try to explain it to anyone.  If some doesn't get it or thinks it is wrong, that is their issue.

Beleive me when I say this. When you have negotated terms with as many subs, over as many years as I have..... You learn to cull out the vague and get to the point. [:D]

It solves myriad issues down the line.

and some people REALLY appreciate that.  i'm one of them.  spell it out in small words so that i understand exactly what i'm getting into, and make sure i hear what you're saying, and not what my brain interprets what you're saying.
