Opinions anyone? Presonally I say more power to them and to hell with what anyone else thinks.

Rock on! I hope they have a healthy, happy baby and don't let the nay sayers ruin what may be one of the most blessed event of their lives.

If it were spur of the moment thing I might be upset. But I would be upset if anyone just up and decided to have a baby without thinking through the ramifications.
They may end up leaving town after the wee one starts to get older so that she can have a childhood that isn't being ridiculed and looked down on by folks in their town.
I wish them the best of luck.

apettiger -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/1/2008 3:34:28 PM)

i think it is wounderful.
i know that in this country it is more than difficult for transgendered, homosexual or anyone living an open alternative lifestyle, to have and raise children (even though they are just as good at parenting as straight people, better in some cases)
i hope the little girl has a happy, loved and protected childhood, devoid of ignorant people labeling her or her parents.

MontrealPhoenix -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/1/2008 3:43:32 PM)

I think that's fantastic and more power to 'em...who cares which one of them is carrying their little girl, the important part is that they are having a child together.

DelilahDeb -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/2/2008 3:13:48 PM)

The only point I wonder about (for half a second) is which sperm bank they used, or did they have a personal donor?
Funny that I should hear of this through CM and an Oz newspaper. Living in Oregon, such things do make the news in a usually neutral to positive llght. But...oh, I was out of town last week. Still, I was catching the headlines and newschatter daily. <shrug>

Good on them.

SaDgUrl -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/3/2008 9:36:23 AM)

i am very happy for them and hold for them much respect.

Pyrrsefanie -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/3/2008 3:10:53 PM)

There is a distinct shortage of good mothers and fathers in this world.

I say anyone, regardless of race, creed, religion, sexual orientation, or any of that, who can effectively and lovingly raise a little one in today's society should go for it.

malloves69 -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/3/2008 3:45:14 PM)

i feel sorry for the child being born ,,can you imagine the abuse the child will have growing up once people realize who the so called mother is ? society can be cruel and this child i bet would have a hard life growing up dealing with it once they can understand it with all the jokes and abuse ..sorry no smiles for this one im against it ...think about the child growing up and having to deal with it ??? mal

SweetDommes -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/3/2008 5:02:37 PM)

I'm honestly as worried for the health of the father as I am for the baby.  He has already had his breast tissue removed, but the hormones that are supposed to enlarge the breasts and begin milk production are still going to be circulating - what will that do to him and the baby?  A lot of the physical changes that have happened from the testosterone hormones are going to be undone, which can cause other problems ... Plus all the 'normal' pregnancy problems.

I'm torn about this - I don't think it's wrong for him to have the baby, but I am concerned for the health of all involved (both physical and mental health, of course).

blackssbbw -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/3/2008 6:33:15 PM)

I saw the couple being interviewed on TV today. All through the interview I could see the love they had for each other and their unborn child. I wish them the best and a healthy baby.

I found this story to be most fascinating, I intend to watch it closely. I wonder about the identity crisis and struggles, it must be very confusing to go from a being born a woman, wishing to, and then becoming  a man, but now pregnant and moody,  like only a woman can be.  I hope along with La maze, there might be a therapist class too

The child will be presumably healthy and mentally sound.

Life is painful and people are assholes.  If the kid was going to be born to a "normal" couple, I guarantee you the kids on the playground would find some other reason to harass them.

And if adults want to be assholes to the kid about it?  Well, any adult who gets off on picking on someone half their age is not worth the oxygen that they breathe, in my opinion.  Nothing makes me angrier than a grownup who thinks they're hot shit just because they're older than someone.

I mean seriously, what's the other option, anyway?  Have an abortion because "ZOMG PEOPLE MIGHT BE MEAN?"  If that's the case then I can only wish my mother had done me the favor, what with the Hell I went through in school.  [8|]

puppy4owner -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/3/2008 11:08:29 PM)

it was a hoax people-no need to fret-believe none of what you hear and half of what you see

DelilahDeb -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/4/2008 2:53:51 AM)

Caught the last few minutes of this couple on Oprah Thursday. Best wishes for all of them. Seem nice folks.

Pyrrsefanie has the right of it concerning how kids grow up. Human beings are EXPERT at the perceiving finest of distinctions that differentiate us all, and the unmitigated horrors of the average playground are the same whether the kids (by definition, incompletely developed humans) are a bunch of clones or the most diverse bunch you ever saw. Someone/s will be different in gross or subtle ways, and our brains are hard-wired to ignore the similarities and focus on the differences. With the routinely uncivilized behavior that passes for ordinary on every playground on the planet.

Cynically,
Delilah Deb

BlackPhx -> RE: Pregnant transgender man feels 'incredible' (4/4/2008 4:35:42 AM)

When I first read the header I thought... GREAT now at least one man will know what pregnancy feels like and start spreading the news! That he is mentally transgendered and doing this is wonderful and that will be a very loved child, something it seems has become a rarity in this days world, at least according to the news papers and broadcasts. It is horrid that they are having difficulty finding an Dr and support. They may indeed need to head to a larger city whereacceptance may be higher and support groups abound.

I wish them luck.
