I don't have a problem at all with open debate, although the older I get the less I am interested in participating. But I will tell you that doing that very thing--backing out without commenting is what started me thinking about assumptions. Yesterday I read about "personal responsibility." It seemed to me that many were saying, (in so many words), "you really need to own your shit" and then posting their own examples of personal responsibility with caveats and explanations, even while ultimately saying, "but I take responsibility for my part..." It seemed to me it about looking outward and I believe the OP was about looking within.

Unfortunately, neither my dad nor I was usually wrong in our assessment. I think, even in written communication, people give off certain cues that are very telling. I have a very sensitive bullshit metre. I cannot tollerate it.

I guess if I was proven wrong more, I would be more prone, to being less quick to judge. I just kinda have found that if it looks like shit and smells like shit........it's probably shit.

My ability to make quick judgments has saved my ass and that of those close to me on several occasions. Even those that have called me on it

Example........."God, did you have to be so cold to Frank at the party tonight?" 
Me: "Frank is a snake in the grass putz you would be smart to stay away from."
Them: "WHAT?!?! Frank is a nice guy! How can you say that?"
Them after being around Frank some more: "That Frank is a sneaky cocksucker! You won't believe what he did!!"
Me: "Ahhh, yes I will..."
