I am new to the BDSM world and I was wondering if anyone had any advice for me. I like a variety of things, but I don't know what to do about it. Please help :D

Go to your local munch and meet people.

You can start by not obsessing on the "things" and consider that you are going to have to interact with PEOPLE.

They aren't just vehicles for fantasy fullfillment.

Google your city, or  a major city near you, and munch.

May I suggest you try a little internet searching to begin with. There are many sites that will help you get a handle on this lifestyle.  I like "mackenziecross.ca" as an opener and "bestslavetraining.com" for a more in depth look at things, but there are many and everyone here will have their favorites.  You might also consider going to sites that have area chat rooms and go to that area that covers your location. Alt.com for example has such rooms. You may find that a number of people are surprisingly in your town and will put you on to munches and other occassions to meet people.

This will take you a bit of time, but it's worth it if your serious.

Oh God..please avoid Alt.com...it is populated mostly by people who washed over from Adult Friend Finder, and NOT  BDSM lifestylers. Bondage.com has regional rooms on it's irc program...try those instead.

LOL..in the general rooms that's true. But in the area chat rooms such as Ontario, or BC..etc there are many there that are very real. Ya there is always the occassional troll and someone visiting from another area...but most are real time, playing in their community. In my community I met many people in my area and through them gained entry to a lot of good events. I also travel on occassion and through those area rooms made contacts in other places.

Your right though,  the general rooms are not worth your time.

I agree Alt can be pretty yucky with all the pseudo swingers looking for "bad girls to spank" or WTF it is.

Still, I met my Master on Alt so it ain't TOO bad.

You have to get a good BS meter when you go, but you might want to give it a chance.
