Polls! There's an episode of Yes Minister (a BBC production) that constantly pokes fun and the british government system. It was so populare they made a sequel, Yes Prime Minisiter. There was a debate occuring about bringing back conscription ... so Sir Humphry a principal character ... when asked if a poll should be conducted to find out the 'mood of the people' responded 'Certainly what answer do you want?' he then proceeded to ask a series of what appeared to be unrelated questions and the last one was 'Are you in favour of Conscription?' because of the way all the previous questions were phrased the only answer you could give without souding hypocritical was 'Yes' he then did the same thing and the only answer you could give was 'No'. Ever since then, when I hear that a poll showed .. i want to know how the data was collected before i give it any credence ... particularly polls on contentious issues, sucha as politics ... and as House says Everyone Lies
