Right...but you'll be lovin' the hell out of it if you ever have the misfortune of being handcuffed by a surly cop....and I'm not talking about some lame roleplay scene...

Yeah yeah, get's old after a while though.

It's just unnecessarily disgusting

Agreed!  It was bad enough, when we had to start distinguishing a part of our lives that we don't just talk about, online, as "real life."

We are not mere "meat."  Even our bodies, themselves, are not just some static substance.  It reminds me of a documentary I saw about a certain cult who taught their children to feel ashamed of their bodies, that their bodies and especially sexuality was debased, telling them their worldly bodies are just bags of meat.

A very poor turn of phrase.

I hated the  supposedly better version of saying  hecka worse than hella.

quote:

ORIGINAL: darchChylde

Ok, haven't heard it for a bit and it may be out of use now; but i hated "hella" which i heard all the time when i moved to the Bay Area in the late 90s.

YourhandMyAss -> RE: The Phrase You Hate (4/3/2008 10:37:00 PM)

Why would you pick someone  with traits you found unacceptable  or hated in the first place? I mean assuming you knew about the traits before you went into the relationship. Going into it with the thoughts I will change x y and z often do backfire.

It'd be easier to find someone who had traits you could live with, I wouldn't chose a partner who smoked cause I think it's a stinky smelly disgusting habbit,  I wouldn't choose someone who walked around with bad BO all day cause that means they do not bathe or wear deoderant, and I think its essential they care enough to take care of their hygeine, and I wouldn't pick someone who gobbled icecream like it was water, because I want someone who's going to support me in my efforts to get away from sweets and junk. So no I wouldn't need to change them cause I wouldn't willingly pick a partner who had those unacceotable traits to me. And I hope I'd find out their traits and bad habbits before choosing them, which I know don't always happen but I hope next time I'd be smart enough tp find out if their habbits were livable, and not to pick someone with things I know I'd want to change.

Okies. I came across another one 'if you love X then why would you want to change person X'Why?? I will tell ya why. Suppose X smokes ciggies, or scarfs down ice cream like water, or has nasty BO. Ain't those things ya would want changed?

sunshinemiss -> RE: The Phrase You Hate (4/3/2008 10:45:28 PM)

Don't know if this fits, but... I'm going to put it here anyway...

Those shirts that say things like "beautiful" or "sexy" or "hot stuff"...

If you need to tell me these things are true about you, ummmm maybe they aren't really true about you?[8|]

I hate "CUZ" Especially when answered in response to why did you do this/that? "Cuz" I than I reply "Because why?"

And my ex and his family always said "what it is what it do?" Instead of hello, how are you? I HATE that!

(mistressnoname: I have your avatar tatooed on my ankle, lol)

LOL.  I love it!

As an addendum to my earlier quote, I have a coworker who, when I say "I"m sorry", always says, in a meant-to-be-funny-tone, "It's all your fault!"  It's kind of funny, but it gets irritating a couple of hours into it.  I always have the same sarcastic response, "Everything's always all my fault.  The sooner we all come to grips with that, the better."

CalifChick -> RE: The Phrase You Hate (4/4/2008 9:31:29 AM)

Okay, I've recently acquired another one.  The use of "hehe" or "lol" at the end of every sentence or every post.  Or a smiley instead of a punctuation mark to end a sentence.  [sm=banghead.gif] <-- I need to go to the bang-your-head thread on this one.

"I'm looking for a 'dominate' woman."

Adjective, not the verb.

And 'imho':  what follows is likely not going to be humble.

Gift [:'(] of  [:'(] submission. [:'(]  Why is it no one ever talks about my gift of fabulous cooking? My gift of sewing? My gift of laundry? or hell, even my gift of love?
