MissVnus,seeing that BDSM is all about trust and giving of one's self,i find it hard to trust myself at even attempting self-bondage let alone a Domina although obviously,she would know alot more about it than myself and in time i would trust completely before meeting for a session or signing a contract to be in service.

And, only the ladies can really answer that for you. But, in my experience, it has mostly been men. I DO know of a female or two who will paddle themselves from time to time. (Remember the scene from "The Secretary?") But that's about the extent of my knowledge regarding females. Which is NOT to say some don't. I've just not had any first hand knowledge of any.

First i think it is scary thing to do , on the otherhand i do not feel that the sub who does self domination gets the same feeling of being dominated by another person .

Like I said: erections make me retarded. Which reminds me, in the more cautionary vein this thread is intended to serve: I joined Mensa immediately out of high school to fluff up my resume. My IQ tested at 150. I have an unusually high capacity for handiwork and innovation. I hold two indendentantly sought patents .Each of the mishaps occurred after weeks of research, multiple dry-runs or partial ties, and hours of deliberation. The latter disasters were planned based on knowledge gleaned from my earlier, overwhelmingly safely accomplished sessions. Yet the most dangerous failure was the last one, fueled by a dropped nail and a little impatience. It is incredibly difficult to bind one's self such that one can not wiggle free prior to a preplanned release, and not be permenantly imprisoned or injured by the bondage, and the stakes are very high. I don't mind sharing these tales with the imaginary people that inhabit the Internet. They are probably a needed service, considering that most self-bondage horror stories on the web have a "...and then my next door neighbor's teenaged daughter came in the room! She laughed at my plight, and immediately called the rest of her cheerleading squad..." or some similar crap.

It's my hunch it's done out of necissity to have an intense need fulfilled. And/or, it's the risk factor, in and of itself. However, since I don't participate in this, I really can't answer. Yeah, pretty much, it's just a substitute for actual play, since I've never located a play partner. In my case, my "submissiveness" is more about being challenged without my direct control than it is about setting myself up as subservient to another. I'm sure the thrill would pale in comparison to the most tame play with a Domme, but I sometimes wonder if in a way, there is more intensity in self-bondage. Once I've committed myself, and completed the bondage, there is no safeword, no negotiation, no mercy, no second thoughts. I can wait it out, or escape. But more on-topic, it's the only way I can simulate the will of another person. If I play with pain by myself, I will always yeild at some point, and completely at my whim. While the exploration of the sensations can be entertaining and instructive, the fully voluntary nature of auto-masochism undermines the effect I seek. Also, by its nature, there is a strictly enforced delay of gratification...

Im a girl that enjoys self bondage. but ii don't seem to have the same kind of kinks as the people who've commented before. when I try something, I like to put myself in some potential risk of being seen. it isn't generally a question of if I can get out, but rather if I can get out before im discovered. it does limit the life threatening aspect I think, however it comes with dangers of its own. lol. I had always thought it was a relatively common practice among females into bondage, I guess not lol. I have tried self bondage in one way or another since childhood, I don't really know why. actually I signed up here to find suggestions and new ideas. that's been a pretty epic failure so far. im really enthralled with lhaving to work for my own escape.
