Floggings4You -> submissive woman on KC radio show last Wednesday... (4/4/2008 2:00:50 PM)

A local radio station's morning host, Johnny Dare, read an email on the air Wednesday morning that had been sent by a female submissive.  It detailed some of her experiences as a sub, and how she enjoys impact play, being tied up, etc.

Johnny then called the lady, who answered the call, and proceeded to talk to her for ten or fifteen minutes about the lifestyle.  She talked about finding her Dom, safewords, enjoying the feeling of helplessness, various punishment methods that her Dom uses, etc.

CollarMe and Alt.com were mentioned during the broadcast.

The program didn't go into much detail about safety, and (as is usually the case with this particular show) seemed more interested in sensationalizing things, than in presenting accurate information.

Still, it was interesting--and a bit disturbing--to hear so much of wiitwd--described, in quite a bit of detail, on the radio.

Why was it disturbing?  We're not freemasons or scientologists.  Do you think "we" should be more secretive?

I'm primarily disturbed that Kansas City was mentioned at all, to be fair.  KC is a hard limit for me.

Haha, you'd be amazed. A lot of the people get shitty when stuff like this happens... or when someone mentions that the % of people involved in BDSMish stuff is going up. They feel like the new people aren't as hardcore as they are... and of course with more people in the lifestyle, the less special they feel. It's all an ego thing.

.... not that that's what the OP was intending, (I'm pretty sure anyway)

No, that's not what was disturbing to Me, at all.  What was disturbing was the way BDSM was discussed.  The host made it clear that he felt that a woman who willingly 'submits' to be 'beaten' by a man has problems; and--again--safety issues such as safe-calls and safewords were not discussed.

I don't care whether BDSM is discussed 'in public', but I would prefer that--if and when it is discussed--the information be more accurate and less sensationalistic.
