OsideGirl -> Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 3:52:50 PM)

I know it really shouldn't surprise me, because I know that people in the D/s realm are a real slice of the population...but still this one just made my jaw drop.

I received an email from "Dom" in our area that wants to form a BDSM group that is for people with good jobs and good incomes. Not for the people "that are nearly homeless".

I wrote back and told him that maybe he needed to rethink his words because his email came across as condescending. Also, not once did he ever use the word "please". He instructed those not interested in joining to forward his email to their friends. Not "please forward" just forward.

He wrote back telling me that he was obviously better educated than I am and that he obviously was in a better position than I am (he doesn't know me)...and then went on to say: "We are much much better than those that need food stamps to eat dinner tonight.. :) "

Wow....just wow.....

I have a friend with an MBA who worked for a financial company that just went under. She lost her job, her entire 401K and is now trying to support herself and her two children on a fraction of her salary. She was divorced several years ago and her deadbeat husband hasn't paid child support in 4 years. She 's surviving on unemployment compensation and food stamps while trying to find another job. And he thinks he's better than her...

Well, at least one thing is for sure....I'll be forwarding that second email to all of my friends.

Lol.. wow... Dunno... I'd want to steer clear of any groups like that, no matter what my income was.

mistoferin -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 4:19:10 PM)

I'm not shocked really. Actually, I think  it might even be a good idea for all of the snobs to have their own group. All of the bigots could form their own group, all of the racists could form one too. All of the angry abusive types could form one and all of the "I don't deserve better" people could be really happy there. Pretty soon they could filter enough of themselves out into their own little groups that the people left might just make up a pretty amazing crowd.

LOL......Seriously though....what an ass! I'd just be glad he wants to form his own "elite" group. If that is the kind of attitude it takes to be "elite".....well, no thanks...I'm real happy "slumming".

Will be fun to see how long the group lasts and how long without dissension.

Lynnxz -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 4:23:39 PM)

Like a country club?  [&:]

Seriously though, there's so much of that attitude around where I live, especially because there's a big college nearby, and some decent neighborhoods. I don't have a crazy amount of stuff, but what I have, is mine.. I'm not in debt at all, I'm not paying anything off, and freaking mommy and daddy don't pay for my school and car... and wtf ever else.

There's an aquantance of mine who threw a bitch fit when her dad bought her a used lexus, instead of a new one... seriously?  Silly whore.

madshysoul -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 4:26:40 PM)

If only those who shared such ridiculous prejudices would own them so openly!

I have images in my head of badges: "Racist and financially prejudiced. Get to know me today! (But only if rich and caucasian!)"

Personally, I'd post his email to our local groups with a complete flat-out intro of "Here's a new group some people might be interested in. See X for more info."

Let his words speak for themselves.

That's very true.

Keeping in mind that all new members have to be screened and you can't bring a guest unless they submit to being screened. (Gee, I wonder who would be doing the screening?)

KatyLied -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 4:30:12 PM)

Wow, that is a guy I would not want to have to share a meal or conversation with.

DiurnalVampire -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 4:33:54 PM)

See, I would join just so I could post that email to the group at large and let them know what an ass the guy was.
But thats just me.

Hmmmm, I'm wondering if you would have to bring a copy of last year's taxes or a bank statement to get in?

Lynnxz -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 4:44:35 PM)

They'll probably want to check out your car/house first as well.

MontrealPhoenix -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 4:44:44 PM)

See, i would join too (if i could figure a way past my pathetic actual bankbalance) just so i could post the ridiculous things they say on this board. Sort of a spysubbie kinda thing...

It's a new start up group, and since I received the email on CM, I'm guessing that he's using CM as a database to recruit new members......which means they all got that same initial email. Some people that meet the requirements will ignore the condescencion and snobbery because it makes them feel good to be seen as "elite" and "special".

On the surface, I don't have an issue with forming a group that has enough income to travel or play. What matters to me is the attitude used in forming that group. I won't join a group that based on snobbery and engages in mocking those less fortunate. I choose not to be friends with someone that would do that.

You think you might get banned if you got busted shopping at Wal-Mart?.....or God forbid!!!!......at a second hand store?????

Well, we pass the house and car part. But, I'm positive that I fail the "twue uber submissive" part.

Joining would mean spending time face to face with that jackass. I don't know if I could bite my tongue long enough....plus I'm sure I'd want to scrub myself clean after being in his presence.

Poetryinpain -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 5:14:50 PM)

How sad.

How sad that he thinks so little of his intelligence and wealth that he has to "protect" himself from others less fortunate than he instead of using said intelligence and wealth to help those others.

I wonder - does he include disabled people on his list of "undesirables"? If he does, then good - I'll probably never have to meet him and try to keep my upper lip from curling in distaste.

pip, happy in my intelligence and (lack of) wealth

atursvcMaam -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 5:34:49 PM)

i am dying of curiosity.  i can not imagine how my reaction to the first e-mail would have opened the door for a second.  i have always had a difficulty with pompous elitists.

kiwisub12 -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 5:35:17 PM)

the way i understand it the true rich are rich because they cut coupons and dont spend money in unnesessary ways - like big houses and expensive cars. What we have here is a noveou riche (sp?- its the lack of education) type who is insecure in his wealth and education. Secure people don't have to make such an issue of their "wealth and education" - its usually something that doesn't need to be pointed out. Sam Walton wore baseball caps and lived in Bentonville in Arkansas, and he was one of the richest men in America.  I wonder if he would qualify , and want to join this fellows club. I think not - he was a simple sort - drove a pickup,I think. shock horror!

Daddysredhead -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 5:43:51 PM)

First of all, God bless your friend.  I know how tough that kind of downward spiral can be.

Now, this jackass really seems like a piece of work.  I think it would be juicy to forward his second e-mail to the other local munch groups so he could be exposed as the snobbish punk that he is.  But then again, I sometimes have an evil streak.

Leatherist -> RE: Stunned by a crappy attitude (4/5/2008 6:39:45 PM)

He wants a kinky country club-whoopee.

I wish him well with his three members-especially when they decide he's worse than them.
