Damn you for posting the Tom Jones clip!   When he sings "Well she knows just what to do...and how to (beat beat beat) PLEASE me!"  he does this hip/waist/torso move....I tried it.  And now I'm in traction and they don't think I'll walk for 6 months!

A favorite mondegreen for me is the Rolling Stones "Jumping Jack Flash" song lyric "I was born in a crossfire hurricane" I've argued this with good friends who insist that those are the right lyrics.

I've never heard of a "crossfire" hurricane. I have, how ever, heard of a "Class Five Hurricane."

I was born in a class five hurricane.

Nowhere on line can I find anywone that says it's anything but "crossfire hurricane". But we all know that Jagger never was clear in his singing anyways. So, unless someone can point out an official lyrics page by the Stones where it says "cross-fire hurricane" I'm fairly certain it is a class five hurricane... especially talking about "driving rain". It is possible that Jagger and co. purposely created a mondegreen, so who knows.

So the official Musidor site isn't good enough? Why would they not know?

He did, indeed.  Of course he also sang "she swept away her rancid poncho/and layed down nekkid on the floor/we did it till we were unchoncho/and it was useless anymore."

E.

Hey...is that a real poncho...I mean, like is that a Sears Poncho, or a real poncho?  ...OH really?

____________

Edited to add three of my favorite mondegreens before anyone else can:

As that great gay glam rocker JIMI HENDRIX sang *you thought I was gonna say Freddie Mercury, didn't ya?  come on admit it*   "scuse me while I kiss this guy..."  (purple haze).

From the Lennon/McCartney school of medical diagnoses:  "Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly / The girl with colitis goes by...."

And from the great old Christian spiritual:  "Gladly, the cross-eyed bear"...

E.

Well the song "Anna godda divida baby" Was never intended to be called that. It was named by the DJ's because it stuck.
