My sister acquiesced to her husband's demands and named their child Zackary instead of the "traditional" way of spelling it, Zachary.  Her husband's logic was that the traditional way was stupid, because the short form is Zack, not Zach.  Sis said "whatever" and came to regret it.  She could NEVER buy her son something in a store that had a name on it, because of their "original" spelling.  She wanted an airplane sign that had names carved in it... nope.  She wanted an ornament for the tree... nope.  You get the idea.  Yes, she could have gotten things done custom and personalized, but that is more work and more expense.  I was with her one day and she was looking at a rack of something with kid names on it (I can't remember what it was) and she just sighed and said "why do I even bother to look??"

Just a little something to think about.

Yep, my UM-F has the same problem; gets her upset in fact that nothing has her name on it. And its not like its anything bizarre or unheard of.

I strongly urge you not to name him (if it's a him) Tecumseh.  His vicious little playmates will have a field day with the "cum" part of it, and kids have it rough enough these days.

Sir and i are in the middle of the name game too. Trying to decide if we should do the twin thing (Jason/Justin, Emma/Ella, Frick/Frack..etc). The bottom line, OP, you did not create this miracle by yourself, so it is only fair that the dad helps with the name!!

I love Hawaiian names, so I voted for Kailani...
as someone stuck with one of those unpronouncable family names, just try and remember they'll be with their name for...life!
when it came time to naming my own UMs, I gave their dad a list of 5 to choose from, so we both got to play.  but I'm a firm believer in, "I'll name the ones I give birth to, YOU name the ones YOU give birth to"[;)] when it comes to the final say.
