BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants
I have finished a web page that shows the BDSM Emblem Symbol pendants that I make. There are 6 styles available. I make them in sterling silver and yellow and white gold. The link below will take you to a page that contains further information about the emblem that is used to signify BDSM. From this page you can see the pendants.
Take a look…http://www.fetjeweller.com/bdsm-emblem-symbol.html

Very nice! I wore a simple pewter emblem for 6 years and loved it. What is the black background color made from? I'm looking in particular at the gold drop pendant to go with a new gold collar.I like your work.

I hate to be a wet blanket, but the guy who designed the symbol had hoped no one would commercialize it. He's gone now, but I think I will always respect his wishes. No gear I make will ever have the triskelli in it.

Do you mean Quagmar? Not sure on the spelling of that...I got my original one from The Emblem Project.

Sadly, I'll add water to that blanket.  It seems as if this jeweler guy is on CollarMe only to sell his products.  I don't mind someone who uses a tagline and also has interesting input, but to be here only to sell is like a hooker at a swinging party

I'm here making friends, and getting input to run a bondage gear biz. But I also have an actual love of this crazy stuff. I'm not big on politics and crap like that-and tend to avoid most real time events..... But I can still respect someone who tried to give us somthing from his heart.

I don't have much for someone who's only trying to profit from us.

Leatherist -> RE: BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants (4/10/2008 11:44:18 AM)

I can't even remember his name, but he was the origional artist. I do remember him asking people not to produce knock offs for sale.

HIyas Franklin, nice to see you on the boards  and your delightful jewellery, I am really liking the drop pendant and the rope one tooo, I may very well be in touch soon:)
Quagmyr is still making jewellery, he has always kept it low key, I used to wholesale his pendants etc, up until about six months ago. His site is still up and running http://emblemproject.sagcs.net/jewelry1.html

Lucy,

camille65 -> RE: BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants (4/10/2008 11:46:31 AM)

Lucy that is why I'm so confused!I emailed him a bit ago and asked if he minded if I carried the design further in stuff I was making and he was pleased about it.But.. now I'm a bit lost.

If it's ok with him, I stand corrected. I believe he carries a copyright on it. But people should at least ASK.

Lucylastic -> RE: BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants (4/10/2008 11:53:41 AM)

That was my impression too camille:) He really appreciates the consideration, I dont think he enforces his copyright, he just gets upset when people "claim" its theirs. He is a nice guy.
Franklin is well known in the sw ontario community and has been involved in munches/playparties etc for many many years.
I know he can speak for himself, but I have seen him at many many events, until I moved out of the local scene.
Just trying to be fair
Lucy

camille65 -> RE: BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants (4/10/2008 11:54:23 AM)

I just looked, yes he carries the copyright. Heh before I figured out we were talking about the same person I got all worried that I was infringing with all the necklaces I made!(even tho I don't sell them, I'm not that talented)[8|]

Fetjeweller -> RE: BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants (4/10/2008 12:32:02 PM)

Hello every one.
A few things of importance. I have many friends here and have met more who have responded to my profile. hello to all of you!

Quagmyr has given to me his clear permission to make this jewellery. I have had his permission for a number of years and renewed that permission in February of this year. In fact there is information about the Emblem at the top of the page that names him as the designer and a link to his website. Quag has an interest to make sure that the design is not misused. I made a specific effort to make sure that I had his consent and he clearly knew about my work.
Regards.
Franklin
quote ....from my website
In the end, Steve Quagmyre, a leader of the discussion, created an emblem reminiscent of the yin-yang design. The choice of design was influenced by a description of the ring that "O" was given in the novel "The Story of O" (which is very different from that worn in the movie version). The ring as described in the book " . . . bore a three-spoked wheel . . . with each spoke spiralling back upon itself . .

camille65 -> RE: BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants (4/10/2008 12:36:34 PM)

I'm glad of that. For many years I've loved his design and it is great seeing it adapted in another artists perspective.Your work is really pretty, it goes from a sturdy no-nonsense sort of look to classic and whimsical.

Elegant -> RE: BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants (4/10/2008 1:32:54 PM)

Just to note FYI:
Quagmire has 'claimed' copyright on the emblem but has not ever produced evidence of registering the copyright. Without it he would have a difficult time suing anyone who used the symbol.

Exactly. I suggest you read this before talking about what a nice guy he is. He has never given any proof of owning a copyright and in fact that symbol is ancient and it's debatable as to whether he would be able to copyright it..

DungeonDesigner -> RE: BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants (4/10/2008 3:05:23 PM)

Well i'd like to add my 2 cents to this discussion as well.
I've actually had the pleasure of meeting with Franklin in a business sense, and purchased an item from him. Not only is he an active and forthright member of his own local Community he is also an excellent Custom Jeweller as well. I therefore doubt that this Forum is a mainstay for his Business, and those that are nitpicking over someone who's an active and respected member of the BDSM community as well, producing and selling a very well made quality product such as his, should actually get a life.
If Franklin...  who I and many others who have met and dealt with him, is viewed as a straightforward and honest individual and Businessman says he has clearance to use the Emblem from whatever source then thats good enough for me!  Have a nice day!

Thank you for posting the link.  I'd lost it when my computer crashed.

DarkAngel_64 -> RE: BDSM Emblem Symbol Pendants (4/13/2008 9:32:43 AM)

Hello all.

Wow,,, a simple post is turned into drama; although IMO it only looks bad on those who turned it into drama in the first place - LOL.

I happen to know Franklin, and consider him and his lovely submissive friends. Franklin not only supplies the real life Community in SW Ontario with some of the nicest high quality custom BDSM jewellery - but he also is an Organizer and Host of BDSM events. As well, Franklin is one of the VERY FEW who ever bothered to ask the person who "claims' to own the copyright for permission to use it (which he has received). He has that much honour and integrity – and those who know him, know that.

Franklin also (for free) assisted me in a ceremony a few years back - where he permanently welded a gold chain (that I bought from him) around the left ankle of my previous slave. Talk about a good person, talk about someone who works hard for his local community, as well as talk about a craftsperson who loves what he does and gives us awesome products at great prices.

Personally I have been an Organizer in the same local Community as Franklin for about a decade - I run 3 Socials, 1 regular Play Party, and 1 HUGE annual BDSM Convention; I don’t make a dime out of it (and never wanted to). Feel free to check me out further at www.get-teased.ca - where you will see Franklin listed as (non-paid like the rest of us) Staff for this HUGE event that draws people from all over North America.

To the guy who criticized Franklin for "preying" on the community,,, who then said he shuns his own local Community - but was here looking for FREE info to create a bondage biz (to no doubt cash in on this same Community); wow, you certainly made me wonder.

Be well, Dark Angel
