-----

When the twin wars began only a very few people accepted the reality that we were engaged in a dangerous power grab over oil rights. All these years later almost everyone seems to accept that as the actual truth and only a very few people continue to believe the propaganda that we are trying to spread democracy in the world.

The question remains: why are we still fighting these idiotic wars? The average American has zero to gain and much to lose instead. General BetrayUs has just asserted that troop pullouts cannot really begin in earnest as the surge has gained us nothing. We'd start pulling out and then have to stop the pullout to make sure we aren't yanked into the streets and slaughtered like the invading scum we actually are in the world.

Churro, shit, I don't want to spread democracy around the world!
Who came up with that shit?
And a month or two ago they said the surge was "working."
This is sounding and acting more and more like Vietnam.

Because the people continue to put others in charge, and it is what those others want.

I think the only way to truly do this, is to lead by example, actually live by our motto; the rest, is the responsiblilty of those who wish to have it.

"We" are still fighting these idiotic wars because the Pieces-of-Shit who run things are making a lot of money.

"The average American" will shut his fucking pie-hole, and watch American Idol and their kids will enlist and die for the profits of those in the immediately prior sentence. The Media is OWNED by the War Profiteers, and the DOJ are having prayer circles and persecuting those who are on their political hit list for "Ungodly" crimes...

Does anyone think their Masters *care* what the slaves think?

Alot of people think this is a new thing.

"I spent 33 years and four months in active military service and during that period I spent most of my time as a high class muscle man for Big Business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer, a gangster for capitalism. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenues in. I helped in the raping of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street. I helped purify Nicaragua for the International Banking House of Brown Brothers in 1902-1912. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for the American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Honduras right for the American fruit companies in 1903. In China in 1927 I helped see to it that Standard Oil went on its way unmolested. Looking back on it, I might have given Al Capone a few hints. The best he could do was to operate his racket in three districts. I operated on three continents."[19]

Those are the words of the late Major Gen. Smedley Darlington Butler Ret. , the most decorated Marine in history (it is said). He could've made it to the top, but he started talking too much before retirement. The quote is from wiki and you can get alot more info there by Googling "Smedly Butler".

So what is going on now is simply business as usual.

The most disturbing thing about the war in my mind is the propaganda. The russians had it right. Control the media, control the minds.

So we distract people with game shows, and popular opinion. We beat the same story into their head until they are certain that it is truth. The upper elite make decisions behind closed doors where nobody can see them, and nobody can place blame. Meanwhile our economy's shredded, our education system's completely collapsed, people are homeless, jobless and friendless in a system that couldn't care less about their life and circumstance so long as they can squeeze that penny just a little tighter.

(Edited to keep what I see as obvious to myself.)

That's a good quote, Termyn8or. I think we've had it here before but it's worth repeating.

actualy that is a photoshopped image... ( I have been in oil fields before... up close and personal) But it is a good representation of it.

In the Congress vs. Gen. Petraeus many of the Senators brought up the finacial cost of us being in the war.. and where in the hell are the oil revenues going? I wanna know why the fuck are they not going to us to pay for replacing the infastructure we blew up.. and paying to train thier police force and army?

Oil revenue is the top layer of slime on this one... very very thin coating of it all. A mere diversion to be honest.

We have wanted.. and in fact *lusted* after a middle eastern base for some time now. No middle eastern country has allowed us to build a perm. base. We have to *ask* for air space each and every time we fly over... it is not automaticaly granted.

With our stressed relations in China and Russia.... (you thought the Cold War was bad? we are gearing up for something much much worse) not to mention the chowder heads in the whole of the middle east.... we want and need a base to "protect our interests" in the region.

Oil is the short game folks... when you deal with countries and politics.. you have to think about the long term game and solutions. No matter what the 3 talking heads say.... the base govt. wants and needs us to have a base over there.

There are reasons why Dubbya neutered the CIA. This is one of them.

Hmmm, I thought the photo was self-explanatory. But if not here goes....

There's a famous photo of the flag being raised at Iwo Jima, it looks like this:
http://www.iwojima.com/raising/lflage.gif

It has also been made into a famous statue honoring that actual event, and more generally the bravery of U.S. armed forces in WW II.

The photoshopped image linked to in the OP is a kind of political cartoon (fumetti style) that equates that famous flag raising with raising oil pumps in Iraq.

I'm not seeing the evil genius thing too well. To me it looks more like the three stooges writ large.

How is Iraq supposed to be our great foothold in the ME if we can barely keep it civil? How does this quell the growing beast of radical Islamic outrage? And now you want to throw Russia and China into the mix? What kind of hubris does it take to think we can manage wars on so many different fronts?

Here's some wisdom: don't stir up a hornet's nest.

I didnt say the boys in govt were brilliant.. and of course when your mouth peice is a moron.. and has the ability to piss off the world in 3 words or less.. well... your plans tend to go into the shitter.

But we have wanted a base in the middle east for a long long time.

Any one who has studied History even on the surface knows you can not win a war you are fighting on 2 fronts.

We are doing our damnedest to get missles over in the old soviet bloc, and in the middle east. It has stired up thats hornests nest.

Dubbya and his cronies single handedly reopened the cold war. Oh what fun.

We have much bigger problems then oil barrons.
