MladyHathor -> The " Compound" (4/11/2008 6:24:33 AM)

I went back through recent posts and didn't see anything started, not even from our own bureau chief Level---do we not care what is happening in Texas or are we just to stunned to comment?

I don't give a flying duck's fuck, since you ask. But it makes for a juicy news story: the media are having a field day out of this.

Every ten years or so another compound gets busted.  It's old news.  It's only new to those not old enough to have lived through it the last time around.

What happens to these compounds anyway?  Do new cults move in?  David Koresh was in Texas..where is there compound today?

There was a thread started but it was pulled .... and some of us had our hands slapped for our posts on it

edited to add ...it was difficult to post about and stay within TOS

I think most of us just don't care well we care just not enough to create a thread about it. It is horrible what happened to all those girls but just cause they busted this one doesn't mean there's not others and I'm sure a lot of the cults have the same thing going on. And another one will just get started smoewhere else. All the boys that were raised in these compounds are taught to think that what is happing is how the world works so one or more of them will probably start a new compund lots of open areas that can be used without imediate notice.

MissHarlet -> RE: The " Compound" (4/11/2008 8:01:49 AM)

Im a Native Texan and know where this compound and the one in Waco are/ were .... and there is  a lot of open space in Texas and other Western states as well as Mexico where these can flourish for years with little notice.

Unfortunately, I fear that they will just continue to pop up ... and hate that they are in my home state.  I would like to think it is not possible for that type of abuse to go unnoticed ...but the truth is .... that it does

They're Mormons, right? Or a Mormom schism, anyway.  So, not of interest to me, except as a sad commentary on the delusional qualities of religions and apocalyptic viewpoints in general.
