I think the real question is whether Obama is sinking his own campaign after his disparraging remarks about "small town America" while addressing some high roller donors sipping lattes in San Fran.
Turn on CNN.

Yep, he managed to get both feet in his mouth.

quote:

Hillary Clinton and John McCain both ripped into Barack Obama Friday for reportedly saying residents of small-town America “cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them” out of bitterness over lost jobs, a remark his opponents interpreted as arrogant.

The Huffington Post reported that Obama made the comments while speaking to a group of wealthy California donors in San Francisco over the weekend. The Post quotes him specifically singling out towns in Pennsylvania, where he’s trying to woo voters and overcome Clinton’s lead in the polls before the state’s April 22 primary.

The Huffingtonpost.com is what broke this latest Obama trip-up...

It just goes to show you how the Democratic party continues with this elitest attitute. Gore displayed it. Kerry displayed it. Now Obama is showing his true colors. He's an elitist.

Well, be that as it may, we still got the Republicans who of course are the party of the people, and hunkering down with us poor folk, sharing in our squalor and whatnot.

No need to get desperate... look for boogiemen under the bed... cry fire in a crowded room... look for holes in the dike...It makes no difference how hard the fight... whom ever wins the nomination in the end will be the next president.

imho, i think that between hillary and obama, who ever's camp says the second to last outrageous thing wins.  i believe the same will happen in the general election.  whoever can keep their mouth shut the best will win.  The next president will most likely be elected to keep the opponent out of office.

Makes one wonder if subconsciously he doesn't want her to win.

He's acting that way, isn't he?

WHY would *SHE* want to win? The Presidency is a RETIREMENT GIG... 4 or 8 years and then your political career is OVER.

She can suck at the Gov't Teat for DECADES as the Carpetbagging Cunt "from the Great State of New York"

Who the hell would give that up?

I'd suggest he just KNOWS how fake it all is, and that it's a show, and since HE'S done with his political career, he's having a hard time keeping up appearances.

Because she gets off on equaling and even surpassing him.   It's her way of saying "fuck you" for embarassing her during the whole Monica fiasco.

She sees the lost potential of his presidency, and wants to "do it right", maybe. [8|] I'm not at all sure she could pull it off.

Bullshit. It's ALL about the Euros.

And you make more Bank sitting in the senate for 30 years and THEN going to the Oval Office for 8 years before retiring... Think LONG TERM here... She ain't going anywhere... In 2020, it'll be Hilary/Oprah... Maybe Oprah/Hilary -- who knows...

I think Obama is in the lead with referring to his grandmother as a "typical white person" comment.  Talk about political suicide!

cjan -> RE: Will Bill sink the Clinton campaign? (4/12/2008 8:29:37 AM)

I don't think Obama's comments about out of work "working" class Americans was at all out of line. His comments have been, as usual, taken out of context and distorted. All he said was that working class Americans who have been un and/or are under-employed are frustrated and, in their frustration, have been, in some cases, manipulated and distracted from economic issues which directly effect them , by cynical politicians to be overly concerned about knee-jerk issues like gay marriage, etc. Is that not the case ?

In fact, I admire Obama for being less concerned about being politically correct than by being candid on issues and to consticuencies who are directly effected by the issues he tries to address. Of, course, this makes him vulnerable to being quoted out of context and attacked by less scrupulous opponents.

pahunkboy -> RE: Will Bill sink the Clinton campaign? (4/12/2008 8:43:49 AM)

I dont see how Obamas comment is elitist.  What he said is true.  [I must be one of those he meant in Pennsylvania]

There is ALOT of cynnism  here.  I did not think it was unique to PA.

Notice the trade  deal with Columbia failed.

Oh  Bill will be at Bucknell tommorrow.  the event says 1st come 1st serve. yet some have 'tickets"
